Lets say I finish Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep and I finished it all the way through once without cheating and want to play again at random using codes (level fast to 100, infinite HP, etc.), is it still cheating? I also have another question, is it still cheating if you use a strategy guide on your first play through (meaning you haven't finished it yet)? My friend and I always use one when we play Pokemon.
It depends on what you're doing. If you use cheats to beat some secret boss you haven't before, then yeah you get no bragging rights or anything. Though technically even if you beat the game it is still cheating but hey, if you beat it already then it doesn't matter. There's nothing wrong about cheating even before you beat the game, you bought it so you should try and enjoy it. Using strategy guides isn't ever considered cheating. They focus in-game mechanics and explain it to the player as to how they can best go about doing stuff. Of course there's always the situation of using codes and such in a multiplayer portion of a game which is obviously cheating...though that's obvious and I'm sure you're not even referring to that.
I guess the idea would vary by different people. Some would consider it cheating, others would say you're on the green since you beat the game. As I personally see it, I do believe it's not cheating. You did beat the game before hand. Now, you are focusing on trying to jazz up the game to either have some fun or challenge yourself. So at that point, using codes is alright. So, if it were me in your position, once I beat it...I'd go all out and mess with the game till I grow tired of it. As for your second question...I'd say this too vary by people. Some would use strategy guides as they technically do talk about the game's mechanics more than actually give you a straight forward answer on how to beat the game as per your understanding (as Machina above me pointed out). Then there are those who don't believe in any kind of help, even if it's a strategy guide. Using them is not cheating, ofcouse, but such said people would feel that they are cheating themselves by looking at anything that would make the game any easier. But that's their issue. In a nutshell...neither is cheating.
Well technically speaking it is still cheating, but if you want to go by game morals that's the way to go really. Cheat codes are there to change your game experience really. On my first playthrough I pretty much never use cheats codes. Then depending on the game, if I find a code that'll make my second playthrough more enjoyable then I would probably use it. But some games just have to have Cheat Codes (Or well, we're just too use to having them). Look at GTA for example. Sure you can finish the game without using any cheat, but what then? They really enrich the experience of causing chaos and destruction. But again, it depends on the game, and varies from person to person like Pyro said. It's pretty much the same with strategy guides.
To me , it's just cheating in that particular save that you are using to cheat. if you beat the game in a different save and then cheat in a new save then yes in a way but just that file you're cheating in. if that made sense..but no , not really cheating if you already beat the game , i mean i beat mortal kombat shaolin monks yesterday with kung lao. and used a 999999 exp code so i wouldn't have to worry about gaining a lot of exp to get all the moves i wanted in a new save with liu kang. call it cheating if you wish , but what it comes down to is your own perspective and opinion
I don't really see it as cheating if you have already completed a game. To be honest, I just see it as expanding the enjoyment you get out of the game and having a bit more fun with it. I mean, you've already completed it, sometimes it's better to spice up the gameplay a little so you'll keep going back again and again to play it. And I mean, it's not as if you're doing something unfair or bad. For strategy guides, It's a mixed bag for me. Yes in one way you are cheating as you will know a lot more things than you should prior to completing the game, on the other hand, some games are really driven by collectables and side quests, so it would be completely fair if you used a guide for them, as not everyone would be able to find everything on one playthrough of a game, especially if it's their first.
it depends. cheats that give you an advantage are still cheats in my opinion. but cheats that let you do other things like play as characters you normally couldn't, i see as game enhancers. of course, don't use hacks/cheats in online games, i don't think anyone likes that.
I agree with you but there are some hacks/cheats for online games that are really enjoyable they are mostly on PC tho. Here is an example (Yes it is Call of Duty) I say as long as it doesn't give you an advantage from everyone else in the game such as 10th Perstiege lobbys it is fine.
Yes, please...don't do that. It's annoying and rude. It really can suck the fun out of a game in less than a second. Online RPG games should be left far from cheats and hacks.
