So, to pass the time, I started watching the new Todd in the Shadows video. I find him humorous, and have an interesting take on current pop music. Half way through watching, I'm handed a note. This is what it reads "What you watching is/ Not good./ Good Bless You/ Please STOP" (these are not my errors).

Now, I could understand if I was watching something something that was strange or not appropriate, but I don't think I was. The review is for that new "All is One" song, and the creator provides the music video clips so there's something on screen. The only thing that I can think of that may have provoked it was when there was a short montage of hit songs from 2005, which included their respective videos. The clips weren't too bad.

I was having a good day, which was probably the reason why I didn't provoke her. I just logged off, walked away, and went on another computer. I decided to take the high road.

It's that Good Bless You (I'm pretty sure she meant to say God Bless You) thing that kind of pisses me off. It's those extra three words that really sinks it in. It's like she's saying "I'm better than you because I don't watch that stuff". I would understand if I was being loud, or the video was bad, but there was no reason for me to provoke her. Hell, she was sitting behind me; our backs are to each other. She went completely out of her way just to prove that she's a better human being than I am.

Not gonna lie, those extra words take it from something annoying to something frustrating, so many people do stuff like that, it adds a layer of condescension that it meant to try to guilt you into going along with what they say, and it makes going against it hard because those words are like butter that deflect MOST things you say.
Guarantee you, if you talk to the person, or confront them, or whatever, they'll be INSANELY dismissive about it.
So no, I don't think you're being silly, I see people pull this stuff all the time adn I detest it

Grammatical errors aside, I think I would be a little peeved if someone handed me a note like this based on what I was watching. And under the circumstances you explained, I think it was a little uncalled for. Given that your backs were to each other, she would have had to turn around and actually watch. Thus going out of her way to get involved in what should have been your own private enjoyment.

Reminds me of a little incident in college. I had some time to kill between classes, so I decided to go to the student lounge with my laptop. There was this guy in the chair next to me and I was kind of watching some Deathstars videos to get some inspiration for a story I was working on. This guy taps me on my shoulder to get my attention. [And he did in a way that I had bruises afterwards. Like he dug his fingers into my shoulder.]

Anyway, when he remove my earbuds to humor him and to get him off my case. He says: 'Is that some satanic music you're watching? Because I don't approve.' I calmly explained that was a theatrical rock music group from Sweden and that I wasn't a Satanist. And then I told him to do something not so very nice in a cluster of words that likely went over his head. I had my earbuds in. I wasn't bothering anyone else. Before I moved to a different location. [ And he was damn lucky that I I didn't just haul off on him. Anger issues and all at that time. ]

The point is that some people just have this need to get involved in the lives of others and to prove themselves superior. I've noticed this behavior since graduating college and getting a job. And this is from adults.

Or, or, you could have just kept watching a video.

Because you're just watching a video.

What annoys me most about people that insert god's name into stuff like that is that it is so hypocritical. 99% of the time the stuff they point out is either perfectly fine by scripture or barely wrong. And the often condescending way of correcting it is itself slightly wrong. There are much greater problems in this world and nit-picking won't even solve the lesser ones. Actually makes matters worse since I need to convince people I'm not one of those christians before I can hope to have a conversation with them. Though admittedly I'm being pretty condensing about them right now, so I can't really say I'm any better.

I feel like, "God bless you," is even worse than, "Bless you heart."
