This is a very good thing for consoles and digital content in general. Without competition, there's no reason to lower prices. I'm very happy with Sony always trying to work with others lately. Very good "can't beat 'em, let's get them on our console" mentality. If only the Steam thing had gone farther.
I suppose it makes things more convenient whenever I'm purchasing regularly on Amazon. I'm already used to just using the good ole PSN Store, but maybe I'll use this in case something like that credit card fiasco happens again lol.
I'mma just post an addendum here to say that if this, allowing venders to sell codes for stuff on your console, becomes a trend then a digital future is one I really won't mind. Competition is something the digital console market desperately needs or they'll rip off their consumers blind. There's a lot more that needs to go down like lowering the cost of DLC (Nintendo is charging $2 for about 3 hours worth of content for Pikmin 3. I damn well know Fallout 3 didn't need to charge $10 for Anchorage or The Pit to make a profit), the full on elimination of season passes and replacing them with bundle deals post-release of the game's DLC, deals for buying multiple digital games at once, and more. Give some power to the vendors and you will see more spending- there's a reason people pick up used games all the time, apply the business logic digitally and let people make money on it.
Sounds good, wonder how it'll go, shame it's a US only deal for now. If you guys make it a success then hopefully the rest of us can get it! Could argue this is what Kickstarters do, they're popular enough. I don't think it's inherently bad or wrong, it's up to the consumer to decide what they want. I'm fine with buying Season Passes if I like the content revealed, otherwise I just don't buy it.
