Traditional Art in a world void of feeling or heart, I know that we are the torches in the dark

Piece from the printmaking class I'm taking this summer, we had to sketch a hand holding a wine glass and then etch it onto a tin plate and come up with a background.
Flames were painful as hell to finish, everything that is black on that was carved away via little lines with a tiny little metal stylus that was most likely created for torture. Once I get the plate home I'll post that too. xD

Title is Torches, as I was listening to the song while printing and cleaning the plate.

My scanner seems to have gone a bit weird, but eh, whatever, it hates me. xD

 

Oh my, this is very good. The shading is superb, and you captured the transparency of the glass near perfectly. This is very nice, no real complaints at all.

I'm not really into Real Life Drawings, I perfer Anime/Manga Drawn. But this is fabulous.
I think the first was better, since the original is more clear, but as you said your scanner is acting up.
I get that too. ;~;

I actually thought the shading was halfassed for me, since I'm usually extremely OCD with it. >_>

I don't hate still life, but hands...:/8D:
I really need a new scanner, hopefully when I get the best print I did home I can make the scanner not suck. I really don't know why it cut off part of it for a black line. ._.

Anyway, I suppose I should crit the drawing. The fingers look a little awkward in some places. They look a tad too chubby (although I've been reading mangas all day in which all the characters have long slender fingers so that might just be me). Also the thumb is very pointy. o_o The shading and the wine glass look very nice though, especially on the print.

 

I like it.

Everything in the drawing seems nice, except the fingers and the fire.
The fingers seem almost too..... out of place, i guess. And chubby.
The fire seems to have a little too much...... pointy things. (i don't know what call them.)

And don't worry about how it looks, scanners hates us all.

The thing we were actually drawing from was a disturbing looking disembodied rubber hand. ._.
So yeah, I was freaking out in class too, the pinky bent in the weirdest way on the hand. xD

As I said, the plate's metal and I had to etch it and it was a complete ***** to get the flames to look realistic, if it can even be called that. xD
