Improvements for Commands and Command Styles

    So now that we've seen Command Styles in multiple games, what do you think are some improvements that could be made for future titles? How would the mechanics of Command Styles work? etc, etc.


    I hated Command Styles in BBS. They were fun to play as the first few times, but going into an unwanted Style at a time where don't want it is really annoying, and one of the biggest parts of what makes me think that is one of the least fun games in the series. You can aim at which Command Style want to use, through the use of your commands, but unless you use nothing but dull standard commands, you're going to go into a command style regardless, which is it's biggest flaw: you can't turn them off. I would love to be able to play the game, use commands, and everything else without having to worry about going into a Command Style.

    DDD improved on this greatly for Riku, you chose to use them rather than them activating automatically, but there's always room for improvement, so, where would you improve?

    This is mainly about Command Styles, though by extension it would have to include Commands as well, so what improvements would you make to them?

    Personally I would get rid of this two-slot nonsense, and cut out all the lame ones like Blizzard Edge and narrow it down to the ones that are actually useful, rather than giving the play an over-abundant pool of Commands (BBS.)

    Honestly, I didn't even mind the command styles I got. I was able to use each one to my advantage. And for the record, I actually enjoyed using Blizzard Edge, and I think having lots of choices for commands is great. Now if we're talking improvement, I guess there should be a third slot for items, because I don't think items should be used together with commands.

    I say this a lot but I hate the command menu for the games now. With all the abilities. It's very anti-climactic. There wasn't anything to look forward to as you progressed through the games (besides story but this is gameplay wise). I like the styles in BBS but I hated that you were forced to go into them. I want to learn abilities as you level or after a big event. I really hope they go back to KH1 and 2s Command menus and summons.
    So how I would improve it...

    Improvement for commands - No commands or command menu list.
    Styles - Fine the way it is but with out being forced.

    Honestly I agree with this. I would love for them to go back to using the standard command menu and nothing else (it worked for Days, you can't tell me that they couldn't do it for any of the other games) however it seems that they like this style of commands, so rather than complaining I figured it would be better to discuss how it could be less painful.

    so do many video game reviewers as well as fans (like me). And Days was done before the switch to command styles. Also, as long as FF Versus XIII is still in development, no future KH game will have the KH1/KH2 command style

    Command Styles have always been a poor man's Drive Forms, so I'd rather just have those back.
    The Command Deck I would like to see merged with an MP bar of some sort, to that combos become possible again.

    I meant in regards to what a handheld game can manage.

    Yes, but unless I am mistaken it was said that no game will be made until KH3 is released, meaning that the next game wont have commands regardless.


    what is it about the command deck system or whatever that you like?

    Honestly, at this point, I'm starting to think that KH3's development will be handled by Square-Enix's Osaka team (the guys who developed BBS and 3D) rather than the guys who worked on KH1 and KH2 (who are STILL working on Versus XIII). And I'm pretty sure KH3 is in its early stages right now. But since the KH1/KH2 developers are, supposedly, still busy with FF Versus XIII, then it would make sense for the Osaka team (the one Nomura referred to as being responsible for KH the past few years) to do KH3, because unless I'm mistaken, I don't think there are any other titles they are working on (that we know of).

    I'm pretty sure it was said that KH3 would not begin development because the team is busy with V13, so unless it was officially said that the team won't be handling the project, that's nothing short of baseless speculation.
    Personally I hope that the Osaka team doesn't handle KH3.

    Don't remember hearing that anywhere. But Nomura did say that 3D's gameplay would be a precursor to KH3's gameplay. Hence why I strongly believe Team Osaka will develop it (which if true, would make me the happiest KH fan on the planet)

    Nomura has gone on record saying the Versus takes priority over KH3. He said something along the lines of needing to reach a certain point in development in Versus before properly starting KH3. We have no idea what that 'certain point' may be.

    I like both systems and honestly hope they bring back the original for another go round, while still adding in the things that have become a major part of the series...and Flowmotion! Also it would be nice if they brought back other party members, Disney and Square.
