I can't take a shower till 2 days after the surgery.

Have to keep a cotton ball in my ear for a whole month after the surgery

Can't take a shower without putting a cotton ball with Vaseline in it to keep water from going on

Drops need to be put in my ear twice a day, along with packets stuffed in their for a whole month that will slowly dissolve out

That's not even all of it. Ugh, this is going to be a major pain

At least you don't have to undergo chemotherapy (mostly as a precaution, though) like my mother does, so consider yourself lucky. You could have it worse.

    Best of luck.

That sounds rough, good luck and I hope you make it through everything okay.

In the words of the King of Conquerors, glory lies just beyond the horizon! You'll make it through : )

I know. Someone I work with had to deal with her post-op from cancer for more than half a year and she didn't enjoy it at all.

It also depends on the person, too. Not everyone deals with it. You might be one of the lucky ones.

To this day, I have never dealt with depression, so when I had my wisdom teeth removal surgery, I was perfectly fine afterward other than not feeling well and having a small fever the night of and being sore and having to take it easy on eating for a while.

I've never been depressed about any kind of surgery I've got, though maybe because I was too young to care when I was younger, and wisdom teeth aren't that big of a deal. I'm just going to hate having crap loads of stuff quite literally stuffed into my ear for a month, if not longer depending if anything goes wrong. I guess that first obstacle is not showering for 2 days. I can't even stand not showering every day, I get way too greasy. My whole room is going to get a deep cleaning after this

It's not that bad. I've gone a week without showering before, though this was when I was younger. I don't really do it now.

I'm at college most of the time now, so I shower daily, but when I'm on break like now, I try to take a shower at least bi-daily.

Surgeries in the double digits (a fairly large percent being some gross back problem thats genetic, don't really wanna talk about it) and it has never been the fuel for any real depression. Keep in mind each of them (specifically the back surgeries) had a 6-9 month recovery period which involved me basically doing nothing but lay down on my stomach. I remember when I was a kid, almost forgetting what my downstairs was like, because I was essentially staying on the second floor until the recovery was finished (you never want to risk opening up a wound that is healing). Does it suck? Yes. Are operations hard? Yes. Does that mean that you are doomed, and are going to go through a literal hell? Absolutely not. Struggle is simply a part of life. Some of us deal with medical issues, others have family issues, etc etc etc. There are a countless amount of struggles to be had in this existence. This will just have to be another one you'll beat.
