So this is my first mixtape. Just music conveying some things I (and a few people) were feeling for a certain time, but as the thread title infers, it was already too late to release this when I originally intended. Still thought I'd share it after all the effort I put into it. Mods, let me know if I need to remove the download link. Spoiler: YouTube Playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVZISIhJOQaxg5FWw5sJTpht26vvs8bdN Spoiler: Backside / Track Listing Hope you guys find some enjoyment from this. If you don't, meh, that's cool too. Also shameless plug; I got a graphic shop if anyone cares to bring that back to life. @Cat~ @Korosu I finished the thing.
I admire your song choices, but I feel they could flow better. Apocalypse Please would've worked well after The Day the World Went Away, for instance, and Money might've worked better as the intro to the B-side. There's also a bit of thematic overlap on some songs but it's not bad. Intense mix, man. Maybe more intense than we deserve lol. But I can feel the emotion.
I feel like Ronnie James Dio's "Rainbow in the Dark" would have fit somewhere towards the end of the mix.
not beginning with red or white wine by ddg and ending with sam cooke's bring it on home feels like youre not even doing your job
I'll take that into account if I make another. Whatchu mean by thematic overlap too? Like too many too soon that hit the same feeling? Eh, intense music is just the kind of stuff I listen to on the regular. This tape was me trying to make it NOT just that aaaaaaand maybe not succeeding but it's an attempt at a few themes so yeah. Dunno it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe, I was already searching for stuff and I admittedly don't know much of Dio's music beside like Holy Diver It really doesn't feel like it, does it.
Yeah, like right at the beginning you've got a lot of "This is the end" types of tracks, and then you've got Here and I Don't Want to Be Here Anymore right in a row. I would either nix some of those tracks or at least re-arrange them a bit. Tips for next time, obviously. The mix is made and it works fine.
Assuming you also count Black Sabbath (which you should because Dio nailed it) Heaven and Hell: Neon Knights: Rainbow in the Dark: Stand up and Shout: And his cover of Dream On: That's just to name a few. All amazing in my eyes. His range and power was amazing, its a shame he didn't get a longer life to live.
I was thinking of putting the more "end of days" tracks at the end too, but it wouldn't quite fit right with the "ok we got out of the shit" songs I added with This Too Shall Pass and Live and Learn. I PERSONALLY liked my artistry of Here being right before I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore but I'm stupid and like that silly stuff
