What if you met someone that you knew from the site in real life in safe context like you both found out you went to the same school. Not that one your friends recommended you to the site but that someone you had not known outside the site met you on the outside.

Do you think it would be awkward? (a lot of people share some pretty personal stuff here)

Do you think you could have a friendship online and have it transfer to the real world?

Do you think most people have different personalities online? How different?

P.S. I'm not sure if this is "intelligent" enough for "intelligent discussion" so I put it here anyway.

I would probably become "just friends" with them, unless we talked on the internet a lot. But I personally would find it awkward. It's already awkward enough for crystel to log on everyday.

    It depends on who.
If it was one of my friends from the site, it would be kinda weird at first, but that feeling would go away after we talked abit and had some fun.
If it was someone I dislike, the It would be weird all around.

I don't really have friends on here yet, cuz I haven't been on here a long time, but on another website I have like 4 friends, or people I talk to a lot. It would be a little awkward, at first, but then we will start talking about our interests and everything will be fine after that. I think that my friendship online could be transferred to the real world, and still be good. Not really, I'm pretty much myself online. Some people might have different personalities online, it could vary from a little bit of a different personality, to like if their friends in real life wouldn't even recognize who they are.

I am personally very awkward around people when I see them out of context, but there is a really good example that relates.

One summer I went to a camp that was very into emotionally expressing yourself, and I revealed a lot about myself and some very personal feelings. Afterwards I never thought I would see any of them again, but it turned out that one of the girls who was at the camp also went to a school near mine. So we would see each other on the transit sometimes and I was always worried that she might bring up something that I did not want to talk about in front of my friends. It has not gotten much less awkward for me.

I would probably be surprised at first. Then I would probably try to talk to them, but in real life I'm not a really good talker. I can't really keep a conversation up that long. So after my failed attempts to keep up a conversation, I would probably feel weird.

I think that it's sorta hard to bring an online friend in to a real life friend relationship, cause I, personally, act really different in real life.

DJ Seph, keep it legit. Not non-sense please. xD

Anyway, I'd probably just be friends with someone I met from my VL (virtual life). With an exception or two in a certain case.

I'd find it awkward...though I'd probably be like: "=D yay!" instead of: "o_o; hai dood."

    Yeah. >.>

I have friends here that I have off the forum as well. I find this ok.

I think it's easier to talk on the forum, as you have a mask of a username. This also means you can be open, and probably more extrovert. No one sees you and makes assumptions.

The people I know off forum as well know me really well. I also trust them and consider them true friends.

1:That'd be totally awkward for me. I'd be all like "Uh... Yeah."

2:Not really, because people are different on here then they are in real life.

3: Yeah. A LOT different. I'm, like, the most immature thing ever (IRL), and people say I'm mature on here.

I'd love to meet some people on here in RL, like darky or meg or something. I guess im a little different in RL since it's easier for me to be more sarcastic and disturbing. Cause it's not an awkward meeting until someone hands you an oatmeal creampie inside of a hollowed out eraser......

    1. yeah, i say some pretty personal stuff here, sometimes more personal than i tell my friends at school... but not like personal info, just i tell people here stuff that i wouldn't really want my friends from school to know about.

    2. of course i could have a friendship with them :) even if it's awkward, as long as they're my friend here, the awkwardness kinda goes away.

    3. some people, not sure who though...

    Something else to think about:

If someone you really dislike in real life turned out to be a good friend online how do you think your relationship would change? Or the opposite?
