I kind of figured sora would need drives in kh2 because his heart wasnt strong enough by itself (without roxas' half) so he would need to boost himself up...but that would make him as strong as the kh1 sora if he didnt lose his heart right? sure the kh2 sora had reaction commands and different techniques...but in terms of pure light...

If sora never lost his heart, his "keyblade weilding skills" would be as strong (the start of kh2) or stronger than final form...(at the end of kh2). What do you think would have happened to organization 13? they knew their chances were slim against sora with only half a heart in kh2...sora could have easily of taken two of them on at once...

I personally believe sora would be stronger than terra...the ability to weild two keyblades while continously floating...without even touching them. Its good that he lost his heart actually...either the enemies would have to be insanely strong or he would be overpowered as hell...

Well at the beginning when Sora woke up Roxas had already left the virtual Twilight Town and rejoined him. Meaning that he didn't have to get a power boost, He just had to get used to fighting nobodies because they're different than heartless.

And what's more is that technically he went through all of CoM with half a heart while roxas was in the Org. And he even managed to kill off a few members by himself.
So Sora is even stronger than than Terra by now, despite his keyblade's weird abilities

whew ok I didn't understand that at all...well sort of. So you are saying that Sora would rival/surpass Terra in terms of pure light, yes but I don't know. I kinda get what you are saying but I just....i dunno

I don't know. I think that Sora is young and the forms were to represent what he could grow into. I don't think he's more powerful than Terra and I doubt he would be even if he had not lost his Heart. He's a teenager so he has some growing to do still and I think he and Riku both can surpass Terra but right now, I couldn't say so.

Well I would say the only difference would be that Final Form would be obtained without the whole Roxas deal. This is because I view the Final form as Sora with complete balance within himself (and Roxas). While Roxas was busy fighting, Sora could not drive into Final and unlock full potential. If Roxas never left, Sora would be whole, and would not need to do anything to unlock Final. It would just appear randomly like normal.

Drives were his way of harnessing his friend's hearts to wield more keyblades and/or gather more power. At first he has only enough "heart linkage" to succeed in Valor form, which draws on Goofy. This results in a keyblade drawn from the power of Goofy's heart wielded by Sora. It also gives Sora the ability to do lots of melee, but inbalances it so Sora can only use pysical attacks.

Wisdom is with Donald, and draws on his heart. This purely channels Donald into Sora's magic, rather than becoming a keyblade.

Master represents Sora iimproving on his "iinkage" ability. It makes him channel both friend's power, and also draws on it enough to get a keyblade to levitate.

Final is when Sora gets complete and utter understanding of his heart and can work in sync with Roxas, Donald and Goofy's heart.

Oh, and all the forms take different energy to use.

    BIG hole in that......
    [spoiler?]

You know how in TWTNW at the top of the castle where the door appears? (forgot name) Roxas joins with Sora THERE, not in twilight town.

In fact, just watch the part from where roxas is in the virtual computer room to where sora comes out the pod, and it doesn't necisarily say what you said.

I don't think Sora would be stronger if he didn't die in KH1. His heart grew stronger from the experience after Kairi saved him and he needed to make his body stronger in order to fight with only half his strength. Meanwhile Roxas was in the Organization growing stronger himself so when the two finally combine he would be stronger if anything. Granted game mechanics show you nothing of the sort. After you die in KH1 you are just as powerful as before (unless you want to count him being a wuss with the door). And once you merge together with Roxas again there isn't any power increase, or if there is it is so slight I can't see it.

...No,not really..you can beat anyone without a Drive, the Drives just help speed things up and add extra damage. Yes,Sora would be at a slight disadvantage without Roxas, but Roxas was powerful even without Sora.

Drive just increase your ability (Like Final has Synch Blade, MP Hastega, etc.), speed, strength, magic (Except Valor and Anti), and defense. you can beat enemies without drives.

I support this theory. I agree with it, since I feel it makes the most sense.

though I would say, Master is the effect of Mickey giving Sora the knowledge of his heart, and Final is what Sora ultimately derives from that knowledge

Drives need the strength of another(well at least for gaming purposes...but Limit Form...I don't know about that). I don't think Sora would have gained/lost any powers/abilities from having half a heart then joining back with Roxas. What do you get after joining with Roxas huh? ...That's right absolutely nothing...(unless you played FM+ you get a keyblade for beating him) Also I highly doubt Sora is even near Terra's level of power/awesomeness. Even Ven is stronger than Sora. Slightly off topic: I heard that Ven's Thunder spell is as powerful as Final Form's Thunder...so yeah Sora would not stand a chance in a real fight...technically he did not even beat Terra/egnimatic soldier. Terra/Lingering Spirit/other names that people give him, just stopped fighting because Sora wasn't the one he wanted to see.

I think the Forms are just Sora's realization that he needs his friends if he wants to succeed. In KH I, he was always saying that he didn't need anyone's help. Then in CoM, when he lost Donald and Goofy, he realized that he DID need his friends after all. The Forms in KH II represent his understanding of friendship's connection to strength and success.

I always thought that the forms were just some kind of power boost.
