If people with no rep can give no rep

And everybody starts with no rep, then how did rep begin to accumulate? Like, if people who join the site start with no rep, then they can give no rep. Basically, nobody could have repped anybody.

 

That's crossed my mind but the simplest solution to this is deathspank.

 

Admins no matter what start out giving a certain amount of rep

 

Rosey is sort of right. See it's only new members that completely give/take no rep. Everyone else has a minimum amount of rep that they give/take based upon how long they've been here, rank, etc etc. Or that's what I think at least.

Well shit I wonder how much I give for how long I've been here.

 

According to this: ~Link~ the formula for finding your rep power is

1 point every 180 days of being a member (approximately every 6 months)
1 point every 200 reputation points
1 point every 1000 posts

The formula is slightly different for staffies, as they get an extra boost of rep. The amount of which is still unknown to me.

So according to this, I should give out 18 points. (4 + 13 + 1)​

I checked an exact amount a few months ago and I give 21 rep each time. I remember one of the admins , I think it was CtR, saying they gave like 40 rep each time which is insane.
