First of all, I wasn't sure where to put this. Sorry if it's in the wrong spot.

Ok, like the title says, I've been wanting to make AMVs forever. But there's only one thing that's keeping from doing that:

    The copyright issue on Youtube.

I don't want to get a red strike on my account, like I've seen happen to other AMV makers before. On the other hand, I've seen people who've been making music videos with copyrighted stuff for years and their accounts are perfectly fine.

What should I do to prevent Youtube getting on my back and giving me strikes just for making fan made videos? =/ How do you guys do it?

Eh kinda the same thing with me though laziness is more to it. Basically all but like 3 of my have been marked by youtube. Most are still viewable, a few had music removed. My accounts still there though. The way I see things now, there's no way to make AMVs and have them on youtube without having them marked.

I'm not sure if this would work but just say what isn't yours.

That's what I'm afraid of... ;~; I have a friend who made a side account just for AMVs in case he gets red marks. Sigh I don't know....
I've seen people do that and they still get crap from Youtube.

It's mostly an issue with song choices, artists under major labels are more likely to get pulled down than, say, indie stuff.
If you're scared of that becoming an issue you could try posting them on a different video host altogether, but unfortunately that's going to limit the feedback and views you'll get a lot as I can't think of any that are anywhere near as popular as YouTube.

I usually add the following to the video description:

Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

My original YouTube account (Roxasvsriku) has been banned for years now from "copyrighted" amvs. My current account (Roxasvsrikku) has at least 2 strikes on it now too. The automatic copyright/banning stuff has really ruined YouTube. A perfect example is Little Kuriboh's abridged series, it's thanks to him that a lot of people still like Yu-Gi-Oh and yet his account gets banned automatically by bots on numerous occasions.

I guess worse comes to worse, you can always try to get your account back if it happens.
