    Last night.

I live in such a polluted light area, i haven't been able to see the stars in the last year with my own eyes.
To see the stars, Orion, The Big Dipper, even the Milky Way to an extent.

    Such a beautiful thing....

I like the idea that we are currently viewing these star's past.

That had been scientifically proven that we are seeing the starts past. They are traveling at the speed of light, and since it takes that light to 5 billion lightyears to arrive, we are now viewing light that the star shone 5 billion years ago.

So those stars we are seeing could, theoretically, be dead now.

Yes, let's gaze at the stars...in your multitudes, scarce to be counted, filling the darkness...

Yes, In fact, if you can see the constellation Orion, the stat that is in the top-left corner, Betelgeuse, some argue to be already dead and in a few months we will see the supernova's light arriving.

Matter cannot travel at the speed of light. Stars are made out of matter. Therefore, this statement is false.[DOUBLEPOST=1359880148][/DOUBLEPOST]
    Most of them probably are.

I said the light from the stars was traveling at the speed of light.

Then you should have said "The light is travelling at the speed of light."

    And besides, that's extremely redundant.

Actually, matter can travel faster than light due to the Uncertainty Principle. It's how Black Holes lose mass.

The Uncertainty Principle only implies that that can happen. It was proven wrong later on. The closest any matter has ever come to the speed of light is 0.9999999999999999999999951c, and that was a single proton. Furthermore, C is a universal constant for the fastest speed that anything in the universe can reach. It simply isn't possible to go any faster than that.
