I'm playing Mass Effect 2 on a different TV. The voice acting is muffled. This is not the first time I've tried to solve their audio issues. That said, I'm at a loss. I'm in the equalizer settings trying to adjust well, everything, and just trying to go by what sounds best, but I can't find the right combination of things that are making the voice acting muffled and the background sounds extremely loud (dialog volume in game is at 100%, sound effects at 70%).

    The options for the equalizer are 100hz, 300hz, 1khz, 3khz, and 10khz.

Other issues that may be affected is that highs are REALLY high with a lot of echo and and certain low pitches have a lot of volume compared to other sounds period. (Example, opening the Xbox guide button makes an ear shattering high pitch at a decent volume then a nice low boom that is about twice as loud)

Rule of thumb is to take away more than you add. Cut 100hz a little. Cut 300hz a good bit to remove any muddy frequencies. Leave 1khz alone. Boost 3khz if you have to. Leave 10khz alone. It's hard for me to help you if I can't hear what your talking about. Equalizers on television can be really weird sometimes. I'm not sure what the EQ on your machine is like, but it looks like you may be out of luck if there isn't an option to boost 5khz. That's where you would improve voice over clarity.

This helped immensely. I kept adding and trying to just swing it, but I stuck by your rule of thumb and MAN! EVERYTHING SOUNDS CLEARER! THANK YOU!

What are you playing on? What cables are you using?

I've had muffled audio issues before, when I connected my PS3 through HDMI to a sound system. What fixed it was disabling all of the PS3's sound settings that I could disable.

yeah in my experience muffled voices are what happens when something gets recorded in stereo but thinks it's surround sound
