Kingdom Hearts II I need help

With Ven, I try to combo him but he always counters and kills me.

One time I managed to make it to where he does this move that changes the sky, and then 13 pillars come up and then he starts shooting these balls at me.

 

You don't fight Ven. You're fighting Terra.

Anyway, you probably got caught in one of this locks: Melee Lock, Magic Lock, or the Roulette Lock.

If you give more details, I can probably be more helpful.

Actually, that strategy works for the Data fight of Roxas, which you failed to specify you weren't doing.

Anyway, Aerial Dodge worked for me during that battle. Try to do the same.

Alright, thanks for your help, I finally beat Ven (At level 5 even).

I probably should've tried using the KK, and some defensive abilities earlier, they helped a lot in the battle (And a little bit of stat raising items).
