I Need Advice On Something Before I Lose It

Okay, so a couple of days ago, my brother broke a couple more of my guitar strings because I told him to get the hell out of my room when he tried getting on my computer at 4 in the morning. Now, I told my Mom to buyt me some new guitar strings. I gave all the info she needed and instead she comes back with acoustic guitar strings.
My question to everyone is, will Acoustic guitar strings work on an Electric guitar? I don't think so, but since when do I know anything about anything these days?

 

I'm no guitar expert but I guess it should work,a string's a string.

 

Yeah, but these strings could be bigger or something. I can't open the box to check, or else I would'nt be able to return them.

Well for an electric, electric strings are best. For acoustic, acoustic strings are best. So you decide =\

 

I'm pretty sure that's obvious :p.

Ask somebody who plays guitars too, or go to a guitar shop and ask if there's a difference.
