in my opinion, McCain won the night. NOte: i'm not saying the election, just the night. I was at the hospital and i saw the results. His speech was just one word: class! He was polite, accepted defeat, and recognized Obama as the president. He was just an awesome person tonight, therefore; he was the better person.

    so obama won....

I will say I was moved by both McCain's and Obama's speeches. McCain was gracious and a good guy about it, returning to the old McCain I wish he had been on the campaign trail. I believe it when he says he will stay working and doing things as a Senator. I hope he does because he's a great senator. Obama's speech was not arrogant either or about himself. He did a great job and acknowledged McCain as a good man. Both men showed they have strong integrity and the ability to move on and not be arrogant about things. Kudos to both of them for being so mature.

I think that his speech tonight was good. It was much more admirable than his recent speeches anyway. He did not however, do what was most important, and that was settle his supporters down to normalcy. Sure, he held out his hand when people booed Obama, but that really wasn't enough. He should have said something about that directly. Like it or not, he's going to be the President, and unless he screws up, he should have our respect. Even though John McCain did a good job during his speech, the hateful campaign he led overshadows it. He truly did create a monster.

If the loser accepts defeat then he is, by default, going to look like the better person. But Obama made a fantastic speech and was equally respectful, if not more so, than McCain. The only thing that I can criticize about it was that he forgot to thank the Clintons for their help XD

I'm sorry that your candidate lost, but let's not belittle the significance of this night. It was a(n) historic night for African Americans, a good night for Democrats, and hopefully a positive rebirth of the country.

And what "lies" do you speak of? XD

Actually, I liked McCain's speech. I thought he did what was necessary and he did not want to 'scold' people too much over the stuff. Had he raised his hand prior to this, things might have been different for him. All in all I have to say I was glad he did things the way he did which was to peacefully explain things and he was calmer than I've seen him in a while. I feel like, as I said before, that McCain was back to his old self again.

I agree. I liked it too, I just don't think that it was his night. Plus, I really think that he should have done a little bit more about the booing. He handled it decently, but not to the extent that I feel certain that Obama won't be assassinated.

And yes, after an ugly period, he definitely returned to his true self, which I knew would happen reguardless of the winner, but I'm still very glad to see it.

Just food for thought. If McCain won, and Obama was polite, accepted defeat, and recognized McCain as the president, would he be awesome, therefore, the better person that night?

Uh... all peoples who are nice to other peoples... are... all... AWESOME! So I guess yes, he would be the better person. Ah, lets just face it, they were both really great people and still are.
