I just thought of this...

Xehanort's heartless and his nobody both took the name Ansem.

His heartless used it like regular, and his nobody anagramed it and added an X.

Why do you think that they both did that?

 

This is only a weird pet theory, but I think in the begining it was only asome kind of ruse. Then after the real Ansem was out of the way Xehanort lost it began to belive he really was Ansem the Wise. At least thats what I'm getting from reading the secret reports in KH I (Of course DiZ/Ansem the Wise was not even thought of during KH I, but it's the only way i can think to make sence of it.)

I don't think Xehanort's heartless ever realised he was not Ansem. He was probably to far gone. Xemnas on the other hand seems to remeber everything so maybe he kept the name out of some king of symbolisim. (But really what kinda weird anagram would you get out of Xehanort by adding another x? it would probably be really hard to pronounce...)

 

Yeah... the heartless did totally act like a know-it-all...

 

I think the Heartless was insane (literally) so that's why it went by "Ansem." It probably was just confused.

As for Xemnas, he might have come to the conclusion that the real Ansem wasn't strong enough to further his own research...so he decided to take the name and continue it instead.

I'm not sure...but that's what it always seemed like to me.

Yeah i think that's right. When Ansem the Wise disappeard into the darkness Xehanort took his name so he could continue his research.

 

I'm still not completely sure why he did that, though. They look nothing alike, and there's absolutely no way somebody could get them confused. Xehanort was kinda...I dunno...

Well, they did mention that he wasn't exactly normal. I quote:

"The young man has served me ever since I nursed him back from death's door some years ago.

He had lost all his memories at the time, but later showed remarkable intellectual curiosity and readily absorbed my teachings, gaining deep wisdom. Any mental immaturity is surely due to his young age." -Secret Ansem 's Report #1

The 'immaturity' mentioned could simply be that his brain was still damaged. After all, he couldn't remember anything.

 

No, he clearly just stated that Xehanort was young when he found him, and any immature behavior is only because he's young... He's mature in every other way...

 

Heartless are created from the heart, right? So when Xehanorth lost his heart, his heartless, out of pure anger for not being able to continue his research, started to call himself Ansem.

As for Xemnas, I think it was basically the same reason, but seing that every nobody has an X on the name, he called himself Xemnas..

I wonder if they knew the existence of them both..
