    Shiny female Vibrava

Caught me totally off guard, and I used my Master Ball on her.

My first and only shiny was a Sentret on Silver, many years ago.

It's a lot better when the shiny isn't handed to you.

Yes, because you can totally count the STORY DEPENDANT Red Gyarados as a shiny.

It is the same color as a normal Shiny Gyarados and that makes it a Shiny. Just because it's part of the story doesn't change what it is.

But it's not special when everyone has the same shiny

I actually found a shiny magikarp in the safari zone before, and I tried to catch it, but it ran away from me.

I'm guessing in game shiny isn't as common as the card shinies. I still got very excited when I got a shiny card though : D

Card shinies are just cards that are shiny. Shiny Pokemon are these:

Or similar. They're just alternately colored. And they sparkle when the Pokeball opens.

Is the chance of getting a card shiny less than 1 in 8,000?

Well that is cool. I can see the attraction, do they have different powers as well or are they exactly the same as their non-shiny equivalent?

It depends on where you are looking for them >:3 If you had a pile of 8000 cards and only one was shiny then yes :3
