I feel sorry for Jecht

Because his son is the least manly, whiniest piece of **** to ever waste space on this planet.

How the heck does someone as manly as Jecht produce a sissy like Tidus?

 

Take that back. Tidus is a manly man.

 

You know, I always found the Tidus hate to be funny.
While he might not be qualified as "badass" as other FF main characters, he's less whiny than a lot of them.
Also, I'd be pretty whiny too if I was stuck in a unknown world >_>

And Tidus is probably the epitome of the "hero," everything considered. He starts out whiny and self-centered, more concerned with his own dilemma than Spira's. But over the course of the story, he develops and matures, ultimately accepting his fate in the world and the great danger he and his companions must overcome.

Edit: Jecht is kind of a dick too, you know.

I do see him as badass, just during combat and in Dissidia and 012.

While Jecht isn't "Father of the Year", he was just trying to get Tidus to grow a pair.

Jecht himself kind of acknowledges that Tidus is a man by the end. And most of the whininess is kinda his fault, for being a bit of a dick. Although in all fairness, he's a dick because he doesn't really know how else to be a father, so it's not entirely his fault he acts that way.

 

I've always found it weird how people love Jecht and hate Tidus when they basically had the same character development in their stories.

Jecht gets thrown into another world and starts off only caring about himself but during his pilgrimage with Braska and Auron, he learns to become more selfless and in the end, sacrifices himself to bring peace to the planet. He's a badass.

Tidus gets thrown into another world and starts off only caring about himself and wanting to go home to Zanarkand. His ignorance and constant questioning of customs is what allows him to convince the party to find another way to defeat Sin. Along the journey, he becomes more selfless and comes to accept his fate as just a dream and in the end is completely willing to sacrifice his existence so that his love, friends and the rest of the world can live in peace and progress without having a huge space whale trying to kill them. Yet he's considered whiny.

i dont think tidus is that bad. besides, if being manly means picking on your young child and wife like jecht did then idrc about "manly". (although, you learn to forgive him at the end, or at the very least, understand him).
