Kingdom Hearts II I don't understand

What King Mickey meant near the end of KH2. Remember when Sora was asking Riku why he needed that blindfold he was wearing? King Mickey said something like "It was because his eyes couldn't lie." Well, what did he mean?

I assume that it meant to do with something with darkness, and that he could sense using the darkness?

 

something like Terra's eyes changing possibly meaning acceptance of what they've done and Riku never really got over for what he did.

 

It's used as a way to suprress the darkness.
I'm not entirely sure as to what it means either, but I presume it had something to do with mental state. If he relied on it too much, he would give in to it fully. SO he couldn't bear to see himself use it.

 

Blindfolds make Riku look cool. Square noticed this. Later, they realised that they probably should give an explanation on why he wore it. In a nutshell, it helped suppress the light in him.

I thought it was the other way round?

 

Nope. He wanted to use the darkness. His eyes 'revealed' that he was actually a denizen of the light. He had to conceal them, perhaps so the darkness would obey him.

 

^ this, and he also could "see" without it, just not using his eyes since as mickey said "so his eyes couldnt lie to him" i thought it meant lie about who he sees as in when he was fighting roxas, he never knew what he looked like, for all he knew, it was some random guy with a keyblade

 

Oh right, i get it now :)

 

I took it as that because Sora was commonly mistaken for Roxas by orginization XIII that by blindfolding Riku he would not mistake Roxas for Sora and hold back... but the light/darkness theory works too.
