I have so many people on my facebook who type in a way that suggests they never went to school. I keep them around because sometimes their ignorance is lol-worthy.

A lot of people seem to have the mindset that 'it's not for work/school so I don't care'. It's a bit mind boggling.

I just assume that when people type like that, they are too lazy type properly. Occasional chatspeak is fine, but not 24/7. @_@

Oh I know.
A guy I used to talk to online said that he used to TA at one of the local colleges for their GED courses. He used to tell me how the students would write their essays in chatspeak/textspeak. My response was just '...How can you do that?' and he'd literally just start crying.

He's since gone to Belarus and I haven't really spoken to him that much.
I miss that *******.

 

I kept getting told by my AP Literature teacher that I had nothing to worry about in college if my papers in her class were anything to go by. Apparently it is a common thing for people to have no standards.

It is really annoying to say that I know people that actually type like this, because no matter what I, or my friends, will say to them about how pathetic it is to not take a few seconds to type properly, they'll just give the old lame excuse that "it's not for school/work fuck off guys!"

No, its not for an assignment, or to get payment: its simply an expression of how you want the online community to think of you based on, not only what you're saying, but if you understand basic spelling and grammar. Go right ahead typing like an idiot though, if you want to be taken as an idiot on the internet.
