I think I've made it very clear in the past that I'm not a big fan of this series. That being said, Catching Fire is my favorite of the series.

As a film standpoint, it looks really interesting. They tried their best not to basically show the entire movie in the trailer. It shows enough to get people interested without playing on the plot point that happens in the third act of the novel. It also looks like it tries to fix the problems that were in the original novel.

This one looks like it's worth seeing.

I read the book. What worries me most is what small things will change that may effect the entire plot. But in the first movie, it was very minor so I assume it will be the same here.
When I say minor I mean like 2 things changed that were pretty big. One in the beginning, and one in the end, but hey, who's complaining.

It's bad that I have read it multiple times and don't see the changes, isn't it?

Probably so. Let me say it in spoiler tags

1 major thing for me that may be minor to others is the whole thing about the Mockingjay Pin that is given to Catniss in the movie. That differs greatly from the book. Another thing is the ending with the final Constants during the Hunger Games. They replaced the genetic zombie players with savage wolf-like beasts.

Yeah. Although they were both minor, it still is a little irritant that I noticed. The 2nd thing I mentioned is probably more major when it comes to understanding her psych.

    Well, in the book:

The wolves were the dead Tributes, ore were engineered like them to mess with their minds

I guess to make it a more frightening final showdown and keep people on edge, they used a different threat......savage wolf-like beasts are horrifying next to a zombie xD
    I.....actually haven't read the books yet. :O
But I need to most definitely.

I am aware. But it was easy enough for Katniss to tell that they were the dead tributes just by their faces alone. In the movie however, you could not. It was meant to mess with the players, yes. But that can be a huge psychological change of mind for a lifetime. Enough to show the viewer how evil the Capitol really was.

For those who have read the books, do y'all want the story to go down the same way into Mockingjay? Because in my opinion Mockingjay kind of went around in circles and I wouldn't mind subtle deviations and changes. I know this thread's about CF but it's related I guess?
Anyways, yeah quite excited for this one, I really enjoyed the book and I really hope the movie gets the message and the overall vibe of it. Also, think it's too much to hope for music as good as Safe and Sound? Coz that song was just incredible.

I hate to sound like I'm thirteen but omigosh guys I'm so excited that I have this stupid grin plastered to my face. And allow me for just for a moment go "Finnick!" because c'mon, it's Finnick and Finnick is just uber hotness. That sentence made no sense AT ALL, but whatever.

Plus, I've already made plans to go see it already, because I'm that much of a fan.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, though hopefully, it will stick to the book.

Thank you for posting the trailer, and sorry for being a fan-girl! :O I'm really sorry!

Well, for me, I don't go to movies that are adapted from other things (books, plays, shows, etc..) to see the book. I already have that in my head. And, to me, they were things that made the story telling much better.

Like with the whole Pin thing. In the book, she was given the pin by the random girl who isn't that big of a character in the books (can't think of her name). It's a nice gesture. In the movie, it's given to her by her sister, which was originally a gift from her. That holds a lot more significance considering the kind of character people say Prim is (as I've stated before, HG characters are two dimensional from my view).

Yeah, it would have been interesting to see the beasts with the players faces, but they are never brought up again in the books at all. It was an interesting plot point that may have gone somewhere, but Collins really dropped the ball with it. In the end, it wasn't necessary to put in. Since it wasn't that necessary, it was something that could be easily cut.

The trailer looks interesting and the film's out the day after my birthday ^,^ but to respond to what you guys have been saying:

In the books, the final battle was not just against zombie's like you've been saying. The dead tributes had been genetically altered, created into like wolf hybrid creatures. They all had collars with the number of their district and aspects of the tributes like hair colour, build and size.

    EDIT: http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Muttations#Wolf_mutts

Also one of the changes that I noticed most was about the pin too but not how she got it. In the book they were all allowed one token item, her's was her pin. She didn't sneak it in and she wore it on full view. The pin in the book was the thing that made Rue decide to trust her as they had mockingbirds back in district 11. It also added to the reason why that became her symbol. However in the film, as she wasn't supposed to have it, she had it hidden from view during the games.

Just got back from the movie and I absolutely loved it!

I've never read the books, so that ending with District 12 being destroyed was VERY shocking for me. But it makes me even more excited for the next chapter of this series (even though I heard some pretty negative things about Mockingjay).
