Today the L.A. Times announced that Deathly Hallows will be two movies. David Yates, who directed Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, will return to direct both Deathly Hallows films, and Steve Kloves will continue on as screenwriter.

    Thoughts?

My thoughts: Tim Burton should direct 7.

So they are making this into two movies eh? Bout time. I've been saying that they should have been doing this since book 5 because how much of the good stuff has been left out of the books since the first one back in the day? And DAMN IT, I wanted to watch more quidditch.

Yeah, this would prolly only appeal to the hard-core HP fans. As for me, ridiculous! I'm not paying for two movies just to get a full story.

I'm just going to wait until it comes out together on DVD.

the fourth book, the goblet of fire was originally going to be split into two parts but they decided not to... probably because the prizoner of azkaban wasnt much of a hit at cnamber of secrets and sorcerors (however you spell it) stone... Order of the phoenix wasnt split because of the loyal fans (like me) so i dont think they will be splitting the movies...

At this stage, I don't care if they split the movie or not - what's importaint to me is that it's true to the book, and don't have so many damn holes in the story like in the last movies I saw. ( made a rant about OotP once I saw that ) And if a split is what's needed to keep the story whole then so be it. Better than cutting away the parts that makes the books so enjoyable. Someone mentioned Quidditch earlier, it saddens me that the last time we saw a true Quidditch match was in Chamber of Secrets....

I'd have found it hilarious if Chris Columbus had returned for the 7th book. He said he was taking a break from HP after the first two films, so I was expecting him to return for at least one more. :p

But yeah, if they split it up into two films, it'd be like...Titanic, Sound of Music, Back to the Future, the last two movies in the Matrix Trilogy or Pirates of the Caribbean. It might work, it might not. But the 6th movie has to come out and wow the audience first...:sideways:

I'm very pleased to hear this. Two films means more footage, which is exactly what the movies seem to be lacking in lately. I actually would have liked to see this done sooner, but I suppose I'll just have to deal. Hopefully with more length the scenes will be more accurate and less rushed.
