How much better is season 2 of RWBY than season 1?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm willing to give the series another chance depending on how much better stuff like the writing and voice acting are. I initially gave up on the series after 8 episodes of disappointment, not because the fight scenes were bad (they're still great) but because I couldn't stand how bad stuff like the inconsistent mic quality, generic writing, awkward voice acting, and boring plot progression were. I also like the character designs and love the music.

Volume 2 improved on a lot of things from, but the pacing is still bad, leading to more about Jaune than most people care for. That said, the VAing improved a bit, but as they were slightly rushed, they overlooked a few things. Even then, one episode in and Volume 3 has improved the VAing to an almost licensed dub level

WHY JAUNE HE'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS I DROPPED IT.

But I'm glad they got better at the VA quality. How much of Season 1 can I skip? Or in an alternate way to ask, which episodes are mandatory?

You can skip The Badge and the Burden (9-10), though they offer some development for Weiss. Jaundice (11-12) and Forever Fall (13-14) are Jaune-centric and don't move the overall plot forward, though they reveal racism against Faunus and also that and .

Jaune's importance is decreased in Volume 2, which is a much more solid season overall than Volume 1, though he does have a subplot through the first half focused on a love quadrangle (handled MUCH better than the romance in the first half of The Legend of Korra, though still possibly annoying). I don't think any of Volume 2 is really skippable, though YMMV.

Honestly IMO Volume 2 isn't skip able because every episode has a little bit of plot.

Oh, I was just asking about Season 1 mainly.

Thanks for the feedback. Think I'll give the series another go next break I get from school.

Volume 2 is much improved from 1, overall, but it still has its problems, like any show.

    Major improvements include;
    -Better backgrounds
    -Better animation overall
    -Moar plot
    -Fight scenes are better imo
    -Pacing speeds up a bit
    -Fun new characters
-Bit more backstory on the main characters
-Soundtrack is a bit better developed imo
    -~DANCING~

I haven't seen the first episode of volume 3 yet but it looks fab~

As long as the biggest sins for me (the writing and voice acting) have improved enough, I'll put in an honest effort.

I honestly think the worst written part of volume 2 is the Jaune arc (hehehehe), and that's saying something because it's not even THAT bad, truthfully. The Voice Acting does pick up though.

They did also move to generally longer episodes in volume 2, so they now have time to set a scene and then actually do something with it. That helps the flow of the writing at least.

VA's are hard for me to judge. I'm liking them better, but I'm not sure if that is more them improving or me getting used to them. Although Michael voices a character that I can't even remember his name because he is still just "Michael's character" in my head.
