how i get ps2 games to play on my ps3?

    i just got my ps3 and i was told that i could play my ps2 games on it, but it isn't happening... anybody know if thi is fixable, and how?

    Your PS3 can either play them alright or it can't. If it has backwards compatibility, then it can. But since you cannot play a PS2 game, then your PS3 probably doesn't have backwards compability.
    I've read a couple of tutorials how to make the PS3 with no backwards compability to play PS2 games, but it requires opening your PS3 and it's difficult, and I don't know how accurate it is.

    ok. then i am just going to let it be. i have my ps2 still hooked up, but i just wanted to spare the room. just figured i woud ask. thanks anyhow.

    In all honesty I think most people were complaining that PS2 games looked like crap on a PS3 anyway, so you're not missing much.

    As I've heard, only 60 Gigs can play PS2 games.

    The older PS3's can, but many of the games are emulated horribly, so Sony dropped the Emotion Engine, which was used for PS2 games since the late 90's, to drop the PS3's price and thus make it accessible to more people.

    My theory is that it can depend on whether its a 20G 40G or 80G...it's just a theory though.
