Let's say it's your first time meeting someone, how would you introduce yourself. A friend introduces you to an acquaintance, what's your initial reaction?

I like to maintain a "mannered yet fun" appearance when meeting people. I like for people to know that I'm not your average everyday person, and I can be really fun too. I like making people laugh as well. So I'd probably break the ice with a joke of some kind.

    How do you present yourself?

usually depends on the situation. How i meet someone at work and at a pub are completely seperate. As well as if i' by myself, with friends, etc.

I usually go in acting acknowledged and make small talk but not much else. I usually have to take a bit of time assessing someone whether it's worth talking with them about certain subjects or whatever, so I'll stay quiet unless they talk to me first.

I am a bit shy when meeting new people, so I usually just smile and say hello or hi, my name is............. it's a pleasure to meet you...........
Depending on where we meet will determine things conversation-wise. Small talk or big conversation.
Once I get used to that person, though, my shyness just dissolves away and talking is more comfortable. So a conversation could go from small talk to a big conversation. =)
I like to have the appearance of someone well mannered and friendly.

Personally I have troubles with introducing myself and stuff. If someone comes up to me and introduces themselves I will reply with a standard. I'm Gabrielle nice to meet you" sort of thing. I rarely will start a conversation, instead let them start it and just try to keep my end up. If someone introduces me, I try to be nice and become friends with them, but same sort of thing. I don't start conversations really but still it is a friend of a friend of mine I will try my best to not be completely awkward and get along with them. And it is not like I am not wanting to be friendly I just never know what to say so I stay quiet unless talked to.

I normally just give a subtle smile and wave. I don't meet new people very often so this is something I've never really thought about. The only people that I associate with extensively are people that I've known for a very long time. If someone else were to describe me they would probably say I am shy and reserved, though that's not exactly how I see myself.

Usually for those that I first meet I just wave, or really just do the two finger salute, and give a smile. But if we were to start talking I just start talking like i would any other person, and my man-child nature comes up for everyone to see :p

I am very shy when meeting new people, but there are times when I'm not

1 If I am introduced and I'm telling jokes there's a roasting session going on I'll go for them, and say something along the lines of... Hahahahah yo if I saw you on the floor unable to get up. I have someone snag a pic and put up life alert 2013 edition and walk right away from you. I'm Nasir by the way

2 If I meet them while studying... W-Wait did I just say stu-*Snipped a good 8 times.* If I were too be introduced to the new comer in a serious time I'd then be very shy, very timid and docile(Although I'm always like that most of the time.) But I'd put out my hands first. Girl or guy... Actual I always put out my hands first even when I'm not introduced happening to see them talking with a buddy, homie, pal, friend, G Money person, or a cool cat. I'd talk to them when they stop and introduce myself to the new person

3 If its during a test which seems to happen often for some reason. I'd laugh tell some jokes all quiet like, hear their jokes, shake hands and do random shizz because I'd usually be finish and wait.

4 Sports is a hard one because I hate organized sports for the fact that it restrains you from doing the free movement you can if you played the Street Version. When it happens my side of showing everyone who feels they are the top dog side comes out. The new friend of the homie is always on my squad and just chill and kick it with them that way.

5 If it were at an planned event that'd be very awkward at first so I'll either stay quiet or try to sneak in some topics that might interest them or anyone so this way I can go off based on the responses and make my moves that way. Check this out think of like this...

Hey strfruit my name is nasirrich just wanted to say h-*Hit by a truck*

It usually goes somewhere around those lines

6 Now if the event is at the homies house and I meet someone new I'm just chillin always kind with my manners in an already chill environment so the need to make it awkward is unnecessary ruining everything so just stay clam, cool, and relaxed and do what you normally do just with a new face

7 For the event to be taken over my house would change kinda as to my approaching them because its very weird they're in my house with the homie we both know, still have the chill, relaxing feel to the environment again no need to change anything really.

8 For the rare occasion I catch a new person while I'm on the job, my buddy is, or even us visiting them is where it gets serious. Hectic environment so mistakes made here can ruin it all so keeping calm for me is key. I'll say something if the time comes or I'm approached with a question, but just keep the talking to a minimal since people are on the clock.

Well, I never really thought about it. When I meet someone for the first time I talk at first like I will only see that person one time in my life and never actually say my name unless they introduce their name first, during first conversation. If I see the person again I usually ask for their name from the person themselves. If I cannot find them, then I ask people who they were.

I think I do this mainly because I like to label people by their personality first, not by their name or their appearance. So I always try to introduce in a nice way, and if the person isn't shy, I crack a joke or something(not a morbid joke usually something involving the moment.)

If it's online, I'm pretty casual but open. I say hi and we chat a bit. I do kind of withdraw in a short time and let the two friends talk without me really unless I need to say something. I don't do well with crowds. I'm pretty much the same in real life, but I try too hard and get more nervous quickly with bad jokes and talking too much.

If it's like at work, I am formal completely. I shake the persons hand and am polite to them. Whether it's a customer or a new co-worker, I treat them with respect.

I usually don't try to introduce myself to people, i'm a bit of a distant person, and i like being alone among family members, a bit of shy feelings toward other people.

I might have slight claustrophobia, i don't mind trying to make friends with a small group of people, but if there's a whole lot of people, i'd maybe be finicky, and staying around one of the corners of the room.

Usually a short two-fingered salute or a handshake, maybe a "nice to meet you," then I clam up for at least a couple hours. I'm very, very reserved around new faces. I consider it a bad habit, one I'm desperately trying to break, but yeah, bit of social anxiety there. I don't like to misstep in conversation, so I don't converse. Preventative to a fault, as it were.

Ugh this is one of my weak points in life. I've been known as a very socially awkward person.

If that person is completely ransom with no knowledge from my friends, I try not to present myself to them. I usually don't approach people, but let them approach me so I can observe who they are at first. At first, I try not to act a lot like myself (I'm quirky, a jokster, and a slob :/) and act all polite and mannerly. After a bit if I manage to bond with them a little more, then I act more naturally myself.

I'm not very good at this. It depends on the situation. If someone approached me in school, or a friend introduces me to someone, I'm usually shy, adn just say hi, or introduce myself, and then just go on from there, it usually goes awkward, and then yeah. Once I warm up to them, then I start being more talkative, and fun. If it was on the net, I'm usually more confident, I reply, or something, then if I feel like it I'd talk to them, or ask a whole lot of questions.

I always try to appear smiley and warm, I will introduce myself and make small talk dependent on the situation we meet e.g. through a friend means I'll talk about them etc. I like to make a good first impression so people will like me which I attempt to do through jokes, finding things in common, complimenting them or just let them talk about themselves. I try to assess the sort of person someone is and act accordingly (to an extent) but this loosens after I get to know them properly. I don't lie or make up some rubbish about myself to fit the other person, it's more just whether I can say something and they will laugh or think I'm weird kind of thing. For example, I may want to make a silly joke about pokemon but if the person I'm speaking to isn't the sort of person who watches pokemon then I refrain from saying it.

I'm usually a bit reserved around new people, though it's not as bad if they're mutual friends. I may or may not start a conversation if I think we'll get along or have similar interests, and slowly I'll open up to them. Once we hit that point where we know each other fairly well, I'll be more open and we'll do whatever whenever we can. I do feel like I can come off as a bit clingy, so I tend not to start the conversations, until we're really well acquainted.

I am very shy when meeting new people, and I normally don’t say much, but if I’m with some friends I can talk A LOT. And if that person likes, Anime, Kingdom Hearts, Like different youtubers or something we would be best friends by the end of the day if we have a lot in common, it's not really hard for me to talk to someone new, just at first. It's kind of like when I join a new website I just try to find somewhere to fit in, and after I while I start to talk and stuff XD With adults it’s a different story and I try to act more proper. If it’s a boy then there really is no hope for me I babble like an idiot about whatever and hope by the end of the day I don’t sound totally stupid.

Depends on the situation. If it's at school, usually a wave of a hand and I just say hi. But if it's anywhere else, i act casual and just say, "Yo, what's up?" Or something like that.

Well I do different things for the type of meeting. If it's an online meeting I just say hello and that's pretty much it. If it's IRL I usually do something simple like saying hello and waving or nodding. I'm very shy towards new people in general.

It depends, if the other person talks too much, I usualy don't do that much talking. If the other is a quiet person I try to fill with small talk or things about myself.. I try to be funny , but sometimes it goes out of hand.
