I really would like to get a good GPA like 4.0 in high school. I would like to get tips from people who've graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. If I don't pass high school, I won't get to college, which will probably make my mom mad. :(

Last I checked (which was some time ago but my grades have been pretty consistent), I finished with a 3.8 unweighted, 4.0 weighted. Honestly I don't really know how I did that well because I... did not put much effort forward, especially towards the end. The best advice I can give is to not obsess too much. High marks are important but so are things like extracurricular activities, and your own happiness; perfectionism will fail you pretty quickly. Aim high, of course, and work hard on all your projects and assignments, but also know how to accept a flat-out poor grade, whether it's in the class as a whole or on just one assignment.

Pay attention in class and do your homework. That got me through basically all my classes. If there are classes you're really secure in and do extremely well, look to see if there are similar Honors or AP classes offered. You may not get as high grades as if you were in a regular class, but you will get additional weighting that can really pay off in the end, and they look good when applying to colleges. Additionally, if you do well enough on your AP exams, you can get some college credit.

I don't want to sound like the cynical ass, but...American high school is really easy. Seriously. Just pay attention in class, do homework, don't be an idiot. But if you plan to do AP and Honors classes, you have to be really focused and determined.

I should state though that I didn't get a perfect GPA, but only because I procrastinated so much and was really lazy for too many classes and assignments. Had I buckled down, I'm sure it wouldn't have been too hard.

Just know what classes are best suited for you as well. Don't do AP or Honors classes if you're struggling with them, and vice-verse, if regular classes are way too easy, try AP or Honors.

You guys are really helpful. I'll keep that in mind to complete all of my projects and study for exams.

I'm not entirely sure what GPA is...The UK doesnt work with those fancy bit bobs and gid gads...However the key to success and proceeding to further education is usually the same...You need a good balance of happiness, a positive frame of mind and putting in the effort, passion and commitment necassary :) I'm sure you will be fine! I wish you the best of luck! <3

Taking AP and Honors classes also makes your GPA go up, some weird thing, but they count as more points towards your GPA I guess because they are harder. Just don't do em if you're not up to it.

GPA means Grade Point Average. It's just what your overall points are determined by your grades in your classes (goes from 0 to 4.0 and over, 4.0 and over are the best grades). I'm not sure exactly what the calculations are to determine GPA though.
