Birth by Sleep Hope this game will explain this

I really hope this game tells us why Chernabog (End of the World boss, from a certain point of view) was in the game for no apparent reason other than to be a boss. He shows up, Sora beats him, he's dead, no explanation. Not even a journal entry. Was he there to represent Fantasia, or something more? Hopefully this game will tell us why he (or it) was with the Heartless (other than the fact that he's a demon).

Why would "Birth By Sleep" cover that? The story seems to have very little to do with Sora.

 

Okay, you have to explain what Chernabog has to do with Sora.

As to why BBS would explain it, it's the only game that occurs before KH1.

And if you're curious as to why I'm curious, it's because he shows up with no formal introduction or ending. You never know he's there until you fight him. You enter EotW, enter his area, kill him, and move on like nothing happened. If he was a heartless, I would understand (and probably wouldn't care. For all I know, the Heartless bosses in KH1 are heartless of Organization XIII, though it's hard to imagine Larxene's heartless as a Behemoth) but he's not. Was he already there? Was he summoned by Ansem (yes, I know he's Xehanort's Heartless, I'm just to lazy to type Xehanort's Heartless out), and if so, why? He could've summoned a super powerful heartless. If Ansem summoned him, they could have some sort of history. If so, considering we'll learn (hopefully) alot about Xehanort's past, we may learn why.

Besides, huge, black, demons are awesome.

 

yes in "End of the World." you have to beat him to move on to ansem...

also i understand ur point jaxon and im with u all the way, but im pretty sure there are a few more topics to discuss before going to chernabog first off, why the hell does EotW exist? Its a heartless world...all worlds have hearts, but its a heartless world...hopefully by explaining its existance a little we might come to understand why some beast like chernabog lives there...or...lived there...

 

Because the End Of The World is made up of portals between different worlds.

So... you portaled over to the Fantasia World... and had to take on Chenabog. There is no story... no reason, other than the fact that he is there, he is evil, he attacks you, you take him out.

Whats so hard to understand? What ICSP said, Its a world filled with portals of other worlds, you go into fantasia, and there has to be an enemy, so he is the enemy. You just defeat him and move on to Ansem, its cuz hes like the last portal I think. And a reason to get superglide.

 

As simple as that. Nomura probably just wanted to add in a classic guard demon before final boss, and decided it Chernabog for the sake of Disney.

Chernabog is evil. You're in a world of darkness where the most powerful heartless reside. When you fight him, you've just finished going to every other world in the game through mini portals and fighting a gang of heartless in each. And you're asking what he's doing there?

I have a similar question... what is Chernabog, and how did he get named Chernabog.

I just called him "the Devil from Fantasia" when I fought him. In fantasia he is never named... so why dont they just call him "the Devil from Fantasia"?

 

They never officially named Yen Sid in Fantasia, but that's his name. It's Disney lore. If you're a Disney nerd, you know these things. I'm sure someone was bored and wanted to name him, so they went and did a whole bunch of research into evil demon names and decided that Chernabog was similar to the demon they had in Fantasia so named him that. Otherwise, Chernabog was a real mythological creature/evil demon, and they based Night on Bald Mountain after that demon.

 

Night on Bald Mountain was the music playing in Fantasia on the Demon scene right?

 

Yeah. That whole sequence is called the Night on Bald Mountain, named for the song that they made the sequence for.

 

They could probably have said a little more in the game but, they didn't.

 

Hey, has anyone seen the puzzle for kh1? It has all the good guys on the right, and all the bad guys on the left. The demon thing is on the left, but he wasn't that huge in the game, so he must have a bigger role.

 

I think Chernabog had a small role. I doubt he will ever have a bigger role than a slap on boss. They needed a giant Demon to fight on the last level... and Chernabog fit the bill.

 

Well, other than Xehanort's Heartless and the Oblivion Keyblade, Chernabog is the coolest-looking thing in the first game. I would've put him in, too.
