This truly does seem like the end of an era, even though the man had retired quite a while ago. Rest in peace, Mr. Yamauchi.

Definitely an important man in the history of video games, he brought us the key Nintendo franchises and helped spawn the Japanese gaming industry. He's effectively one of the biggest influences on gamers, game designers and game companies in history.

A shame to see such importance go, but I do hope it was peaceful and that he died knowing how much he meant to us gamers. Truly.

The third president of Nintendo died today. He was the man who turned Nintendo into one of the greatest gaming companies out this day. May he rest in peace. Without him, Nintendo wouldn't be the company it is now.
