I slowed down and turned around to see Rita running up to me, gasping and reaching out for my shoulder. "Why do you have to run so fast?!" "Simple. I want to get done and so I go and sit out on the bleachers." "Yeah, but still. You just ran a half of a mile in three minutes. You're going to push yourself to hard." "Right. I'll keep that in mind." I started running again, faster than before. I hadn't even broken a sweat yet for some odd reason. In fact, I felt perfectly fine like I had been walking for three minutes instead of full on running. I stopped and looked back at everyone who was now walking and talking while the p.e. teacher glared at them. "Come on Raychel! Let's go!" Why was she yelling at me when the other girls were the ones not doing anything?! I started running again anyways so she wouldn't start yelling again. It took me about two more minutes to be done. "Good job as always Raychel," she congratulated, patting me on the back as I passed her. I hated it when teachers pet me like I was a dog or something. "Thanks Ms. Roanoke," I grumbled, plopping down on a bleacher. Rita finished five minutes later, looking at me with amazement. Her crayon red hair was drenched in sweat. "How-" gasp, "did-" gasp, "you-" gasp, "finish so fast?!" I simply shrugged and smiled at her bewildered face. "What? It's not that big of a deal, stop looking at me like that." She stood up and put her hands on her hips. “I can look at you any way I want to.†I shook my head and giggled at her response. “Oh. My. Gosh! Ray look over there!†I turned my head to see what she was getting all worked up over and saw Sid running with the rest of the guys who had just come out since all of us girls were getting done. I had had a crush on him ever since seventh grade, and as far as I knew, he didn’t even know I existed. “So…?†I asked, turning away to hide my blush. “So? He’s only the hottest guy in the school and all you can say is ‘so’?†“Yeah… He’s not that hot.†I glanced back over at him, my mind putting him in slow-mo as he ran. His black shaggy hair swayed in the wind and his shirt pressing against his rock hard body. He slowed to a walk, turned to us, and waved, all of the girls blushing, giggling, and waving back. His emerald green eyes sparkled as he smiled and turned to start running again. He knew he was gorgeous. One of his friends ran up to him and started talking, glancing over towards me and Rita ever so often. I furrowed my brows and tried to read their lips. Sid’s eyebrows raised and he looked over at me, our eyes connecting, and grinned. I shyly smiled back and turned away, blushing once more. Rita looked at me to him and her smile got wide, “He totally likes you!†I opened my mouth to speak, but she interrupted me before I could start my protest. “Y’all would look so cute together! I’m totally hooking you up with him. All I’ve got to do is talk to Axel. This is going to be great!†She got up and ran towards Axel before I could put one word in. I put my head in my hands and sighed. She never listened. Axel looked over at me and started chuckling to himself. I glared hard at him and he stopped immediately. Rita ran back over to me, smiling like a ******. “Axels’ in! You and Sid are going to be going out in no time!†“What was Axel laughing about?†I questioned, ignoring her remark. “Something I said, it wasn’t about you.†“Oh. You know Rita, Axel pretty cute too. It looks like he likes you.†I smirked as her face flushed. “You really think so?†“Totally.†She looked back and him and waved. He waved back, then ran over to Sid, his own blonde hair swishing from side to side. I bit my bottom lip as I watched their conversation get to me. Sid looked over at me again and I quickly looked down and started picking at my nails. “Stop looking so nervous.†“Well excuse me for being nervous.†I turned back to see him and Axel both walking towards us. I wanted to go crawl in a hole and die at that point. Instead all I could do was crouch lower into the bleachers. “Hey there,†Sid said staring straight into my eyes. It made me feel like he was staring into my very soul and could see all my secrets and thoughts. “H- Hello,†I stuttered like an idiot. “I was wondering if you would like to go out sometime…†“Sure. When?†“Tonight, I’ll pick you up.†“Alright.†“Cool.†I smiled at him as he nodded and walked off, Axel close on his heels. Rita started jumping up and down and squeaking out comments that were inaudible to humans. Ms. Roanoke blew her whistle to signal that it was time to change and go on to fourth period. “I can’t believe you have a date with Sid Ryan! And the best part is, I’m the one who hooked y’all up!†“Oh yeah, you’re a real cupid.†I retorted. I loved Rita like a sister but she was just too bubbly sometimes whereas I am usually mellow. “Why aren’t you as hyped up as I am about this?!†“Because I’m a normal person who doesn’t get over excited about things that aren’t a big deal.†“Whatever, I know this is how you’re feeling on the inside. So just let it out!†She threw her arms up in the air in a dramatic manor and squeaked a once more. I sighed. This was going to be a long day. Fourth period took forever to pass because I had to sit right next to Rita while she gossiped with her other preppy friends. “And then I went and told Axel and….†She trailed off as I blocked her out of my mind and focused on the picture I was drawing of a lion cub with bright yellow eyes. I frowned at it and changed the eye color to blue to make it look sweeter. Rita elbowed me. “Hmm?†“So you’re going out with Sid tonight, right?†“Yeah, you know that. You were there.†The other girls giggled. I raised an eyebrow at them in wonderment. “Don’t mind them, they’re ******ed,†Rita assured after seeing my exession. The bell rang, relinquishing me from Rita and her friends. I ran to the lunch room to spot Sid motioning for me to sit down with him. I brushed back my blondish brown hair and walked towards him, smiling. “Hey Raychel.†“Hey.†I sat down next to him and my smile broadened.
