I need help with Xbox live for the 360. I got the cord (phone jack I think) wired, but I don't know what to do with the IP adress. It says "failed" whenever I test xbox live connection, because of the IP adress. What do you do with the IP adress? Can anyone help me out please? Oh yeah, I have Windows Vista.
To play online you need an account and a membership and heres the official site: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/ look around you might find something
I'm going to use the free gold member ship for a month deal. I don't need all that stuff right now, all I want to do is connect to xbox live.
My friend has windows vista and it works for him. But how do you get your IP adress if you are using adirect connection?
The wire is not a Phone Jack, and it doesn't go into your Phone Jack, it's an Ethernet Cable, and it gets plugged into the Ethernet port of your Router. Your Phone Jack has no IP address, the IP address comes from your Router.
I didn't know what it was called, so that's what I called it. I put that cord into the box thing with has the Ethernet port, what do I actually do with the IP? What is that for? Why does it say it's failed?
The IP address is your internet's signature, if you have working internet then you have an IP address. If your Xbox 360 is not recieving your IP address, then your Router is not allowing it access to the internet, go to yuor Router's settings and make sure you don't have any settings or firewalls blocking the 360 from using your internet.
Plug the ethernet cord(the one you call phone cord) into your modem, it should work fine. If it doesn't, reset your modem
Okay, I'll try that. And sorry, but that's the only thing that I can think of for it...I mean look at it. EDIT: I tried to do what you said, but it still didn't work.
