    Prologue:
    Lucy… Don’t cry…. I’ll be waiting.â€

The harsh, cold rain attacked the barren earth… A young girl crouched over a dark human figure, the sharp rain mixing with her warm tears… Before her laid the decimated body of her beloved brother Heiro. Blood trickled out of the open wound, ruby red against the shadowy soil. Yet, still he smiled at his younger sister… “Lucy…†He began reaching up to her face and placing a gentle hand on her cheek “Don’t cry…†He smiled sadly, looking up into his sister’s pale, weeping eyes. “I promise I’ll wait for you in the next life…â€
Lucy screamed in grief as her brother’s hand slowly dropped from her face, clinging to it, hoping against hope that he wasn’t really dying, that it was all just a dream, that she’d wake up and he’d still be there to tell her it was all just a nightmare… She sat there, staring blankly at her brother’s corpse, her tears splattering on the floor and fusing with her brother blood… After a few long moments she stood up, and tried to remove the sword buried deep inside his chest, collapsing back down to the ground in tears when she realized she couldn’t do it. Their parents ran up to her, shaking her to try to calm her and clinging on to each other. All the while staring in horror at their dead son…

    3 years later…

Lucy walked through the orchard with the cold autumn breeze blowing through the golden tree branched and sweeping the fallen leaves across her path; slowly she approached her brother’s grave… tears pricked her eyes as she read the words Lucy, don’t cry.’ engraved into her brother’s tombstone. It had always been his favourite saying since they were children. His words came back to her, almost as though brought by the gentle wind… “Lucy, don’t cry. I’ll make sure nothing bad ever happens to you.â€

    Chapter 1: A Second Chance
Lucy huddled up under her blankets as the bitter breeze blew against her bare toes. She shivered faintly as the cold reached up her spine. After what seemed an eternity of restlessness, she slowly got up and walked to her icy window. She sighed as she wiped away the mist that had settled on the glass to see the silhouette of a couple together with the moonlight rebounding off the white snow. She watched the two walk off together hand-in-hand and sighed, she felt a warm tear fall down her face and wiped it away… She slowly crept through the soundless house, making sure not to wake her parents. Then she slid out of the door with a ghost-like secrecy, making sure to close it quietly, and set off down the dark street. Lucy sighed forlornly as she noticed a little girl and her older brother walking home. A deep longing glittering in her eyes accompanied the dancing moonlight. As she wordlessly wiped away the glistening tears that had begun to fall, she decided needed to get away from this place. To many memories remained here. More than she could even begin to imagine handling. She walked back to her house without a sound and slipped into her room. She took all the money she had been saving since her childhood, and then silently leaving the house for as long as it was going to take, without so much as a goodbye to her parents…

Lucy wrapped her jumper closer to her as she walked along a long, winding and overgrown pathway that people seldom travelled along. She had not bought much along with her, just a small tent and some food. Soon she realized that in this weather she would probably need more.
“Just great…†She muttered to herself, sighing heavily as she set up the tent. Afterwards she slowly crawled as far into the tent as she could to try to get some sleep. She lay there for a few hours, her thoughts still mixed up and confused. She silently sobbed, cursing that fateful day. After an hour, or maybe even two, she felt something warm fall on her shoulder; it was a hand. Panic surged through her as she spun around as she sat up and found herself staring into the aquamarine eyes of young man. There was a pleasant smile resting upon his lips.
“Hey there, I thought you look cold.†He smiled handing her a soft, warm blanket from his bag. She nodded slowly, and the man gazed at her with a concerned look. ‘You don’t have to be scared of me you know.†He chuckled. “I can’t be all that much older than you, and I really have no idea who you are.â€
Lucy smiled calmly, the fear dying down, she trusted him for some reason. She cautiously introduced herself, wrapping the cover around her shivering body. “I’m Lucy. And thanks for the blanket by the way...â€
He smiled at her happily. “I’m Cian and no problem. So where are you heading off to this time of night?†Cian asked, but it was to late. Lucy’s emotional and physical exhaustion had grabbed her and she had already drifted off into a deep slumber.

The next morning Lucy awoke before the dew had even had time to settle on the cool, damp grass. Slowly she opened her eyes, still only half awake, as she pushed herself up from the floor once again she saw a young man cutting some firewood in the distance. She heaved a sigh as she got up to begin striking camp. After a few moments she decided to find out more about this mysterious Cian, why had he helped her? Who was he? And was he alone? Those where the very thoughts racing through her mind as she walked over to the man, all she knew of him so far was what she could tell from his appearance. But first impressions could often deceive. The first thing she noticed about him was his age. He was right he couldn’t be too much older than her, 17 or maybe 18? 20 at the most, he couldn’t be any elder than that. The second being how he looked: slim but muscular, beautiful golden hair and shining greenish-blue eyes, his muscles almost visible through his pearly white shirt. And the sheer white contrasted against the deep, dark black of his trousers
