In the history of the world, many great Empires have risen and fallen. This year, I've learnt of the greatest empires falling and crumbling to the ground after one-thousand years of leadership. Have you ever thought that the Unites States could meet the same fate? The United States has been around for only like three-hundred years or so. (If I'm wrong, please don't point it out. I know I probably am, but the point is the U.S. hasn't been around for a long time.) Seriously, this great Nation could crumble like all of the others. The Soviet Union was nearly wiped away. But the U.S. stepped in and helped. Discuss...
i don't know if that is entirely possible... i mean i guess it could happen but then again everything could happen... but our world is so advanced in technology that if that ever did happen to the united states i think we would probably use what has already been discovered in other countries... i don't know probably like taking information or something like that... my logic is hard to comprehend i know that but my main point is that if the united states did fall then...( that can happen easily) they would just get back up again.... probably not as good as before but i still think they would be one of the stongest countries in the world... if that makes sense...
I see your point. But with such great empires that have already fallen, the United States doesn't look too safe. But I see what you're saying. =] With our weapons and technology, we could survive.
everything that has a beggining has to eventually have an end, so sadly yes i do believe that soon enough with in the next 100 years the US will fall and a new more powerful country will take our place. its like that with everything though if you think about it, i mean great groups rise and fall with out so much more than a smal gust of wind, religions, ways of life, even our technology, everything is great and without flaw for a while but it slowly becomes rotten to the core and the exterior erodes into nothing but ash.
yeah that is true entirely but i found a new way to rephrase my point... i believe the united states will fall but not as badly as something like the roman empire or egyptians or something else like that.
as quickly as we are going through resources among other things i believe that our fall will not be a quick one nor will it be a painless one, there will be death and other horrible things, but at the end of it all nothing that had happened will matter becuase the new super power will step in and try to help us and we will refuse help and try to stand on our own feet again.
You're right, all great empires follow a simple pattern. Small and peaceful beginnings produce an influential ruler who leads the empire on a wave of prosperity in science, philosophy, art, war, and politics. Soon after the ruler's death, the thrown is taken by incompetent and lowly rulers who ride along the coattails of the former ruler's glory, and the empire falls into ruin. This may happen with America. Except America isn't an empire, and today we live in something called the Age of Nationalism or age of Globalism, an age in which the whole world seems small, we're a planet, not a group of countries. In my opinion, competition and conquest between empires caused many to be great and many to fail, but there's no reason for that anymore in today's society, and if it were abolished completely and there were no countries, with one centralized world government, we might actually have an endless golden age. I'm very intriqued by this thread because I found myself asking this question a little over a year ago.
true America is not an empire but it is going to collapse. not only the pattern of great empires is easily followed, it is also history in all shapes and forms, look at most great leaders, look at what we considered to be the greatest technology, and look at how quickly after we solve one problem many more take its place.
Well, nations in themselves are slower to disappear than actual government systems of people in those nations. So in that effect, I think all governments go through some changes to endure or adapt and those that don't or become too fascist where outsiders have to deal with them, or people get stuck in war in their home territory, that's when things start to crumble. Could anything happen? Yes. I hope it doesn't though. There are going to be struggles in this country though between the stubborn conservatives and the tremendously liberal, while many people must decide to do something or just show the disinterest in things as they have in the past and not bother to even vote. We have a democracy and yet we are letting too many personal freedoms go up and there are some other issues out there we have to contend with. We've already fallen down some notches so there's one of two ways to go now. Up to get back jobs and hope, future and some prosperity or Down to a depression that will demand people do -something-. When depressions happen is when people get desperate so I will hope we could try to be changing and fixing ourselves up before things worsen. In the end, I think that is more the danger than having outsiders crumble this country or any country for the matter. The leadership is borked and we know it.
I actually have thought about this. Back before WWI and WWII, the US was in a state of isolatism. Meaning that they kept out of world affairs. Then WWII ends and the Cold War begins between the Soviet Union and America. These two were the world's superpowers. They tried to influence their ideologies to the new developing nations. Then the Soviet Union collapses and the Cold War is over. America is the only "superpower" left. With the Cold War over, the US abandoned the idea of isolatism and began trying to help other nations. This has created controversy because some people believe that America should help the countries, while others think that the US needs to stay out of the World's affairs and deal with the ones at home. With this controversy at home, and trying to help the new nations, I think that America will collapse. And when it collapses, it may recover quickly but, I don't think it will be like it was before. I say if you give it enough time, it will "fall", if even just a little.
I've been talking about this in social studies too. It very well could happen. Economy is bad, housing markets are down, stocks are down, gas price is high, taxes going up, food is costing more. One after another, more and more horrible things are coming. I could imagine another civil war, maybe being taken over by China. But in my opinion, it will never happen. I mean, come on, we have so many allies. I don't think someone who is teamed with us would try to take us down. most likely I think they'd help us. With all the countries we've tried to help, I wouldn't think so, but because of Bush the possibility is always there. I mean, because of Bush, we could end up like Athens and Sparta in ancient Greece: After the pelopponesian [sp? I think I got that right] war, Sparta took over Athens; They were both Greek, but had two different governments. With the variety our country has, we have a new threat EVERY DAY. It makes me want to cry, how so many people could hate others for the way the preach, dress, talk, walk, act, etc. But this is life on earth, and this is just one more reason for the U.S. to die off... But where will homeless go? What about kids who need an education to be SOMEONE? What about people who need food, what about people who need clothes, what about people who can barely live, because the government took everything they had? Well in the governments' eyes, it's not their problem. Because of Bush, we lost a lot of hope of staying together as one. What happened to the United States of America? We can look at it as a country, united with hope, or a country, united with hate, untrust, no faith, and no hope...
No. not any time soon at least. I've thought about it, but I dont think it would happen, even in my lifetime. America is a first world country. Its the most powerful of all super powers. Regardless if you think this is good or not, but because of said sentence, the President of the United States essentially rules the entire world. Im not going to to go about this like America is righteous and good. Its played dirty a lot of times, even American citizens didnt know it. (Beginning of the Vietnam War). But it is what it is. Its only falter was in the 30's (the Great Depression) and we managed to get out of that. I dont think that would happen again either. So, no, unless something so egregious, so crazy happens, America isnt going down any time soon.
Hmmm that is a good theory. I think we won't cause there is no slavery, slaughter, war or anything like that. I don't see an attack in US like terrorists. If there was one, then we will crumble or rise.
Well of course it's going to happen, but if its anytime soon is another question. I mean no offense to you guys, but you haven't got the most stable country in the world, I mean look at the facts, price of food, petrol, houses, etc are all increasing but the amount you earn doesn't change. It's like the poor stay poor while the rich stay rich, the fact is when oil production is completly exhausted some type of war will probably break out if not before the oil's gone. It's the same with any other 'developed' country, we'll in the same sh!t as people from third world countries in the future because of the lack of resources for so many people in the countries.
I've thought about it. But I think that even the united states DID fall, there are WAY too many people and two much technology for us all to die .-.
yeah a great leader could lead his/her country to victory and peace and harmony but an obssed with war leader might destroy his/her country and lead to a war :3 the united states might crumble if it continues to wage war for no other reason than oil (patrol ) Afghanistan might start the war and destroy the u.s.a Bush might start a war if he decides to attack other countrys for oil or maby by just helping Israel i mean that any country might crumble and fall but it depends on it's leaders as you said ok i should stop typing more or i'll start to bable oh no i am sorry and there might be an inner war cause people would get mad if the priceses are rising and then more poor people will show and hospitals would charge more and so on .....
