I saw Halo 4 had a thread, but this one didn't, sooo... Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is an HD Remake of the original Halo, along with major graphical updates, there is Co-op Campaign, locally(I think) and Online, and Competitive Multiplayer over Xbox Live, which was not included in the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Here's a trailer: I never got the chance to play the original Halo, so I'm really looking forward to this one! Anyways, enjoy and discuss.
Competitive multiplayer was on the original Halo. It wasn't through the internet, however, instead restricted to Routers and System Links, but it was definitely there. Hope this game isn't as expensive as a full console release, I already got the first for around that price do I really need to pay more again? Still i'm gonna get it at one point looks like a great remake.
Definitely gonna get this even though I had the original. I love how they've also seem to have added in the assassinations etc. XD Now they just need to remake Halo2 as well... I mean let's face it, they probably will.
Added in? You say that as though it's not just a direct rip of Reach's engine. The gameplay looks good, I'll admit, but the graphics look... dissapointing. I mean, Cheif looks like he's been rebuilt out of lego, and the Elites look to have a lower resolution than Reach. I know some, if not all of that, are placeholder graphics, they must be, but it looks quite sub-par to me. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I'm a Halo fan enough to buy it and Halo 4 regardless of if they suck. Loved the previous games, so don't think me a Halo-basher, but it looks like the newest two games are aimed to just be fanbait from my perspective. I do love how the 343 Guilty Spark swamp looks though. Always loved that level, and they've defintely improved the visual love there.
First of all... there are several reasons as to why they are like that. The Graphics I mean. For one... they've still got the old graphics running underneath them. In fact by pushing the back button, you can switch between the old and new graphics at will. They say they did this for a few reasons. As well as giving the players a choice, they wanted to do it with the old engine underneath so the game would still play the same as the original Halo, using the same engine and everything. So yes. That means they have added in the assassinations from Reach and such. It's not necessarily a complete direct rip from Reach's engine. I'd find and post the article I read on it... but I have no idea how I found it now.
Well the multiplayer IS reaches engine... which I don't like one bit(for obvious reasons...). Everything else about this game is hype and I really look forward to reliving my childhood haha.
The Reach engine, isn't it developed by Bungie? If so, 343 needs special permission to use it. But yeah, I'm going to buy the game to play the campaign, but multiplayer-wise, I'm going to stick with Reach.
I don't see why they wouldn't let them use it. Bungie are probably itching to play this as much as we are.
More like it actually belonging to Microsoft as all assets of the Halo franchise are Microsoft's property.
This should be interesting. One of the things I'd found disappointing about the first Halo was that lack of an online system, though I'm not sure just how far along Xbox live was when it was released, so that might not be their fault. Either way, I'm looking forward to this...
