I feel like I am the only one who ever had problems with this program no matter what type of system I try to use. I was using skype perfectly fine for a good amount of time when suddenly Skype autoupdated. So I went onto skype after disconnecting from the internet, shut off autoupdates, and logged back in. I think it is just my computer being mean, but it is still taking up most of my memory on my computer as if it is trying to update. I've just had it with this program. (This isn't really supposed to be a help thread, it is just me raging about it.)
but just yesterday I was running Opera, Skype, and the Sims 2 at the same time and it worked perfectly fine... now I can't even run skype without it locking up my computer entirely...
I doubt it's the update, but approximately how much RAM is it using now and approximately how much RAM was it using before?
I couldn't give you exacts... but it is about 4x more than it usually is... I'm just uninstalling and reinstalling it first... that is generally what I do before I lose all hope.
You have to downgrade to the previous version of Skype. When you do so, turn off automatic updates in the Options section.
I just don't understand why some people are having problems with the latest Skype while others aren't.
I do not recall the exact reason, but it might have something to do with either the OS or the computer's internal configuration. I had a similar issue a few weeks ago and the like.
I am the latest version. Anyhow, I am glad you were able to solve your problem, friend! Now you can rejoin us in safety and partying.
