While going through the shop area and a post a member made, I think I'm going into rant mode. xD

Now, this is not aimed at ANYONE in-specific. It is just a call-out.

First I'd like to address something. Why on earth would anyone want to get rid of thread requests? It's quite confusing really... because people should be able to make those threads separately if they feel they would like someone (who possibly hasn't made a shop) to make a sig. Now, yes, you could contact them via PM, true; but the whole point of thread requests is for anonymous request. Please, this is coming from a fellow graphics designer such as myself. I really think we should abolish this rule. <_<

As for spamming up the place.... I only have one question: How? Just because their's an abundance of shops, all the sudden it's not needed to make thread requests? XD That completely destroys the freedom of requesting.

But please keep in mind I speak as a graphics designer when I say this. D:

I personally have asked several members that own shops that create sigs & have never gotten a response from them (except one), i find them unreliable or perhaps that's just the members themselves.

Anyhoo, I think it's a daft thing, not everyone wants to ask at a graphic shop, i know i don't or rarely do. If people want to make a request for a sig via a thread then they should be allowed to. Not all designers have shops.

    I don't have a shop =\

Now suppose if someone makes a thread and goes "I'm looking for someone to make me a siggy with ___ requirements".

If this was allowed...who knows maybe more people would make threads and forget about posting in shops. This can make the shops lose business and the cnc section filled with little requests.

Can you explain "Anonymous Request" please? If they are willing for a specific someone, they can PM. If the person wants to pick anyone, it won't be a problem to just get at a shop.

So...we're discussing on whether the people are willing to click two links and take 10 seconds to load on. Then reply to.

Well you have to think. Not everyone prefers a shop request. Sometimes you might want to just make a thread to get just anyone to do it. This could work both ways, however, as they could use a shop. But the point is is that taking away free thread requesting is like taking away shops; both are basically the same except one has to do with an exact request from a single person (every time).

And yeah, of course shops might lose a little business. But shops can't be the primary foundation of request. Especially when you want to request outside of a shop.

Anonymous request means you post a thread with some requirements, dilly dally along until someone strolls in, and if they make a good tag, you take it. If not, then wait for another person to come along. This works sometimes more-so when you're new... but the concept still works. I just can't imagine a request area without open-thread request. lol

I agree; I think this rule is a bit stupid. A lot of us don't have shops, but are willing to do one or two here and there. Plus, the shops can be a little intimidating for new members. Sometimes it's easier for them to say "Can someone make me a sig with Sora on it?" then to fill out a template from a shop owner.

In all honesty, sig shops are over rated, especially on this site. >_>; There are a few decent shops here, but most are made up of sig makers who honestly don't know what they're doing. It's really better on everyone if people are allowed to ask the general public instead of the most popular sig shop.

I dont like graphic shops much either. I hardly ever actually take all the requests in mine and usually let it die xD. To be honest, Im quicker to make a sig for those individual threads than anything. I say keeps those delicious small threads 8D

I can see why some people believe the individual threads for requests are cluttering up things but at the same time, it is a good thing to have the option open to make requests in such a way. I suppose the other reason people might have wanted others to stop posting the requests was to not lose the shops to the 2nd page etc but really if a shop keeps current, I don't see the problem. The threads are easy for anyone who wants to make the person a sig to find and once the sig is done, the threads can be closed and things move on. So yeah, I would vote for keeping individual thread options open.

If we took a poll right now, how many actual GFX artist have and use shops? And I'm talking about the good GFX artists not the ones that slap a render onto a premade background and call is a sig. -_-

I agree that it should go. Making indivdual thread will be much more efficent for me. Most shops don't interest me and the ones that do get neglected. *cough*Misty*cough*

    Lol. Majority rules =\

Well it can work, but we need to have them with a specific template. It'd be a ****load of replies asking for finding a render, what text to use, etcc.

I can go with this idea, but I think we need a sub-forum for it? Or at least a request template.

And moodkip, your right. The gfx shops have been overrated. Too many people who barely meet the standards get in. And majority of the good designers don't have shops =\

Oh, I am in on it. The shops just aren't doing a whole lot.

And whenever the shops actually put out and make the sigs for people. You get these ugly half assed sigs that took them like 5 min to do. I say we need requirements for sig shops while we're at it...

Well, shop owners can decide on their own rules. If we had them all with the same requirements and expectations, it'd totally destroy any freedom to run a shop that you *own*. xD Of course, having a sticky or something identifying something like "You must have at least the following template:" or something would also work fine.

A minimum would be like... 1. Stock, 2. Text, 3. Color theme, 4. prefered style... etc, etc..

I agree with a template of some kind for the members to use, that way we don't have unneeded posts. xDDDD That happens at places all the time.

But I dunno about an entire sub-forum within the shop forum. We could just change the title of the forum directly to "graphics shops/request area" or something like that. *shrugs*

Thanks for agreeing guys. xD For some reason I thought everyone would yell at me. o_o; XD
