Edit/Update: Here is a pic for the chapter opening (it's really for a comic I am working on to pair with this story) Spoiler First of all I would like to say that I do not own all characters within this story. I have based this story on a group I am in called The Gods of KH. This story centers around my character, Nights and his destiny. Some things may not make sense, and I apologize. The group is an RP and it usually doesn't have rules like grammar or spelling. I can't wait to hear the feedback and hope you all enjoy it. Trust me, if you get hooked now there will be plenty more later (especially because the group hasn't stopped and the stories can keep on going) I have changed the story a little but I will be following the basic principles of the story line in the group. Well, again, hope you enjoy the story. More to come ^_^ The Gods of KH Dark~Light by Night171 I was just standing there. Leaning over the edge of the building with the gun in my hand. She was falling down, I couldn't bare to watch it any further. I finally look away and back over to the roof entrance door to see him. Why, why did it have to be him? Chapter 1: Road to Destiny I had been traveling for several years after Mother passed away, searching for clues to my life. I knew there were a few secrets that I would find out if I just looked for them. At this point I am obsessed with nothing but this quest. This stupid road I keep walking is leading me no where, until I run across this strange little critter. “Hey there, are you lost?” the critter asked me. “Yes, just a little bit. Could you point me in the direction to the nearest city?” “Sure, just over that ridge there. But I must warn you, that is God city and if you aren't strong you won't last long in there.” I just smiled and thanked the critter, then headed on my way. “God City huh?” I asked myself, “sounds like a few secrets might lie there.” I entered the city and the first sign I came across read, “God City, enter at your own risk.” Great, so this place is really dangerous. I sighed as I decided to continue anyway. As I entered the city I didn't see anyone. No one in the streets or in the buildings. I finished walking down about a block and rounded a corner. Wouldn't you know it the first thing I saw was a ball of fire shooting right at me. I barely dodged it. “Sorry, my bad!” I heard from a Dragon, he was very humanoid for a dragon. He flew over and landed in front of me, “My bad, I guess I got a little carried away. You're new here aren't you?” I nodded, “My name is Charonus, Charonus Rex. My friends call me CR.” Your friends, I thought, you have friends. “No problem, my name is Nights. My friends call me . . .” I hesitated, I don't have any friends, “well I don't really have any friends.” CR put his hand out for me to shake, “Well hopefully we can be friends, but first you will have to learn a few lessons.” I smiled then took his hand. “First lesson,” he tossed me, with all his strength, up into the air, “don't let your guard down!” The only thing I could think about was how strange it felt to fly through the air. I was falling at a pretty fast rate, I couldn't fly, and I was about ten meters from the ground. I would've died if it wasn't for this weird shadow like creature that caught me and set me down. “Are you alright?” I heard a girl's voice come from the shadows. “Uh, umh, y-yes, I am fine thank you.” “That's good, I am sorry about CR. He can be a little . . . overworked at times.” the voice rang from deep within the shadows. I couldn't help but wonder what this creature was. “Umh, if you wouldn't mind my asking . . . what are you?” “Huh? Oh!” the voice began laughing, “sorry, I forgot.” A girl steps out of the shadows and the creature disappears, “My name is NightofNights, my friends call me NoN. I am human . . . enough.” She actually giggled, a girl with that much power giggles. “Well that is something new . . . I am sorry if I caused you trouble,” I hesitated to tell her, “I-I don't really have any powers like you or Mr. Rex.” “Don't call him Mr. Rex, if he hears you he will get mad. Just call him CR, and you can call me NoN. As for your powers there isn't much I can do, you have to get those on your own.” “Oh,” I looked down, “well look, I have another question for you. It is about a woman, her name was-” “Sorry, I have to go. My friends are calling,” before I could finish my question she flew away. “Well that was a lot of help,” I sighed, “as far as I know I don't even have powers to find.” Then I heard it, “Fire in the hole!!” I looked around and saw CR floating high above the ground. He had above him a huge ball of fire, he was preparing for an attack. It would definitely finish off an opponent but at this range it would finish me too. “Here it comes!!” The ball started falling at a rapid rate. There was no running, or hiding. I just turned away and closed my eyes. Guess this is how it ends. The ball burst upon impact and flames shot out at all angles. I heard glass shattering, cars exploding, buildings crumble. I counted the seconds, one, two, three, four. At last I heard the blast was right behind me, I guess it's over. I opened my eyes and found myself floating in a dark void, “Where am I?” A voice called out to answer me, “You are inside your soul. This is where you will find that which you need.” “Powers,” I answered without hesitation. “If that is what you need, then yes. Just look for them, if you look in the right place then you will surely find them.” I could kind of tell the voice was no longer with me, it had went away. I looked around and still saw only darkness. “Now what . . . I wish you were here Mother, you could help me.” After I said that I was blinded by a flash of light. I opened my eyes and when everything became clear I looked around and found myself in the same room where Mother had passed away. “Nights,” it was weird hearing her voice again, “what is it you need my son?” I turned around and looked at Mother, “Mother . . . it really is you.” “Yes, you called for me.” She walked over to me and placed her hand on my chest. “Whenever you need me, I will be in here.” She smiled then again asked me, “What is it you need my help with?” I was still dumb-struck from seeing Mother again, “Uh, um. I need to find my powers that is if I have any. I need them to find the answers that I am looking for.” “Well if that is all you are looking for, then just call for them. They have been with you the whole time. Goodbye Nights, and remember, only use those powers for good.” I snapped back to reality and again heard the sound of the blast behind me. There is no way, how did all that take place within such a short period of time. What about my powers, I didn't really feel any different. Maybe it was just one of those flashes you see before you die, but I didn't really see my life. Mother, what do I do. Just then I put a few pieces together. NoN was flying next to CR, “CR, how could you! Now look, you just killed that innocent kid.” CR was rubbing the back of his head, “I-I didn't see him there, I honestly didn't!” “That doesn't matter, that poor kid was only looking for some answers here and you blow him up. I can't even begin to tell you how-” She stopped talking because CR was pointing down into the flame's. “What?” She looked down at where CR was pointing and saw me holding up a single hand and the flames moved around me. At my feet was an energy flowing, it was dark. I held out my hand and called out for my power to unleash itself fully. I grasped my hand around a newly formed sword, it appeared so fragile yet so sturdy. It was dark, as dark as the emptiness of space. With one slash of my sword the flames dispersed and began traveling back down the road as if they were running from me. This is it, I found it. This is the road to my destiny.
Chapter 2: Out of Control Chapter 2: Out of Control As I stood there watching the flames fly away from me I couldn't help but think, "Is this really me? Am I the one doing this? There is no way someone as weak as me could be that powerful." NoN flew down in front of me, "That was some attack, thought you didn't have powers?" I didn't even look at her, I was too invested with my sword and the power's I hold, "I didn't . . . but now I do." "That makes a h*** of a lot of sense now doesn't it," she was getting mad. I don't think she likes liars. "If you are inferring that I was lying to you you are sadly mistaken, I make it a habit not to lie." "Prove it! If you don't lie then you shouldn't be able to hold back in a fight. I want you to fight me," she readied herself in a fighting pose. "You're serious," I stated with a blank expression, "why?" "I hate liars, they are one kind of person that I detest!" I knew it. I sighed, "I honestly don't feel like fighting you. I didn't lie now you need to get over it." "What!? I said fight me now!" she actually charged at me to attack. "NO!" I acted on instinct and my powers activated, she was sent flying back. "What . . . how?" she was completely taken aback as she fell unconscious. The others flew down just as the battle ended, "I-I didn't mean it . . . I didn't-" CR interjected, "It's alright, she is stronger than you think. She will heal in a couple days. You should just lay low for a while." He then proceded to help NoN up, with a few of the others, and take her to rest. "How could I do something like that. It was a reaction I couldn't control . . ." I began questioning myself, Mother said only to use my power's for good. How would this make her feel. I quickly realized why it was I couldn't control it, it was because I didn't have enough experience. All the others here have a lot of experience with their powers so I am sure that if I just train I will be able to control them. I headed just out of town. I arrived in a little field not far from the city limits, it was there that I decided I would begin my training. "I don't even know how to train though," I sighed. Then I heard a voice ring out behind me, "Need any help?" I turned around to see who it was, it was NoN standing right there in front of me. "I thought you were injured!" "Oh that," she laughed, "that was nothing. No, it will take more than that to hospitalize me. I only needed a short nap. So, you were going to start training, right?" "Yea but," I was sweating, "about earlier, i'm-" "Don't sweat it," she replied brushing it off as if it was nothing. "I can't, what I did was out of the line!" "Fine then," she paused, "let me hit you." "What," I asked questionably. "Let me hit you," she pointed out, "then we will be even for earlier." I honestly don't know what would make me think she wouldn't hit me hard, "Alright." It was two seconds later that I was once again flying through the air, only this time it hurt a lot worse. After I crashed down, NoN used her shadows to teleport over to me. "Thanks," I said as I stood up. "You're thanking me for hitting you?" "Yea," I laughed, "I guess I am." We both laughed for a little while, before it came up again. "Would you be willing to help me train?" NoN thought for a minute, "Why?" "What?!" "Why do you want to train? I don't train people for just any old reason." "I want to be able to control my powers!" "Why?" "I want to be able to fight." "Why?" "I want to find the secrets about my past." "Why?" She was beginning to annoy me, "What do you mean why, I just told you why. I want to find the secrets about my past." She smiled, "Why? Everyone has one of two ultimate reasons they want to fight. One, because they want to fight. Two, because they have to fight." I thought for a long while before I gave my answer, "I choose two." "Oh, and why exactly two?" "I have to fight . . . I have to fight for the answers . . . I have to fight to become stronger . . . and I have to fight against all evil." "Where did that come from, the evil thing I mean?" "My Mother died a while back . . . because of an evil man." My fists tightened and my chest did the same. I felt the tears starting to come out, I fought them. I tried my best. "I cannot let her see me cry, she would never train me then," I thought. Just then something surprising happened, NoN hugged me and said this, "Those who never cry are foolish, those who always cry are cowards, but those who cry at times like this . . . are true heroes." She smiled, "I will train you. Wait until tomorrow though, tonight you should rest." "I don't have anywhere to stay," I said letting one tear fall. "I live in an apartment duplex and there is a room in my corridor, we can set you up there." "I don't have any money," I said letting another tear fall. Just then she looked at me and I could have swore I saw Mother, "I will take care of it, don't you worry." I didn't say another word I just hid my face and let all the tears fall. With each one I felt stronger, strange as it may sound. "Come on, let's go." NoN took me back into town and led me to my new apartment, "I am just down the hall there," she pointed, "if you need anything. Okay?" I nodded and waited for her to leave before I closed the door, "What is this feeling? I only felt it once before. What did Mother say it was . . . trust. I only ever trusted one person . . . that's why it broke me so hard when she passed on." I laid down in the bed that was already in the room, and went to sleep.
Chapter 3: What? I awoke the next morning to a knocking at my door. I quickly rose and rushed to answer, "Hello, sorry for the wai-" It was NoN, she seemed a bit brighter today. She quickly stated, "You're hanging out with us today, get ready and meet me downstairs in five or we are leaving you." She then continued on her way to the steps. "What?" I asked myself pondering the situation I was in. I hastily made the decision to listen to her. I washed up in the bathroom and grabbed the cell phone I had so lazily dropped in the bed. I ran out into the hallway and reached the staircase only to see a window further down. I had the strangest thought, one that was a bit dangerous. What would happen if I jumped out the window. I had new powers so I figured what the heck, so I jumped. The rush and excitement I felt as I busted out of the window, the glass shattering around me. The air was fresh and for a moment I was the king of the world. Then gravity kicked in and I began falling, fast. I am pretty sure I was going fast enough for any regular person would have died, luckily I was no regular person. I hit the ground at assumably the force of a nuclear weapon because the ground shattered and broke up almost causing the building to collapse, a few buildings actually. The next thing I heard wasn't as exciting, "What are you doing?" It was NoN yelling and running at me. "Uh, umh, I uh-" I couldn't answer her. "You couldn't just take the stairs like any regular person could you?" she was furious. "I'm sorry, I just acted on instinct-" I didn't really know what to say. I mean what do you tell someone after you just jumped out a window and then almost broke the building you jumped out of. "Well," she paused, "I guess you're one of us then." She smiled as the other's walked out of the building. I saw CR and a few of the other's walked out, I didn't really know them by name yet. "Come on, i'll introduce you to the other's." I walked over with NoN to greet the people coming out of the building. "Hey guys, this is the guy I told you about. You saw him yesterday," she nodded her head for me to come closer so I did. "Nights, this is CR. You guys have already met," CR walked up shook my hand and moved to the side. The rest followed suit, "This is Nas, short for Nasirrich. Watch out he is cool but has a short fuse." The guys eye twitched but he smiled. "Here you have KMJ, or KeybladeMasterJoe if you like. He is cool but has a tendency to disappear from time to time. And the last of our little group here is SH, otherwise known as SorasHeartless." I looked around at all the people standing around me. There was dragon man standing next to me, a man playing with fire across from me, a man with crazy eyes between the two, and a mysterious man standing at the sidelines staring off into the distance. A weird lot of people, at least I think people, and a few days ago I wouldn't be here at all. I would never have dreamed of being here, but I am. "So what do we do now?" I asked with a smile. They all looked at me with half-cocked grins and NoN said, "Whatever we want." There smiles looked weird to me. "What?"
Chapter 4: What It Means To Be A God NoN simply looked at me and said, "What do you mean what? I said we can do whatever we want. Do you think anyone is actually going to stop us?" I thought about it for a moment, "Well no but-" "That's that then," she insisted, "let's go have some fun." And with that she took to the skies with the others. I hesitated but then decided it best to follow them. I would find out what was going on here one way or the other. We flew for a while until we came upon this small village of people, it was there we finally landed. I saw NoN pointing and yelling at the others as they all scrambled about the village. I walked up to her, "What's going on?" She smirked, "We are going to burn this village to the ground." For a second I didn't even reply, it took that long for me to comprehend what it was she said. "We're what!? How could you burn this village to the ground?" She pulled out a pack of matches, "Like this." She lit one of the matches and tossed it down. I stomped it out before it could cause a fire to catch, "You must be crazy! What have these people done to you?" She stopped, "Nothing." Her answer confused me so much, combined with the blank expression she had as she gave the answer. "Then why would you want to burn the village to the ground?" She began laughing, "Because I feel like it that's why." CR came out of one of the houses, "We're all clear. The flammables have been placed, just give the word." She looked me dead in the eyes, "Go ahead. I want you to do it." She tossed me the pack of matches. "There is no way!" I replied, "How could you expect me to do something like that?" I threw the matches down. "Alright then," she seemed angered, "whatever happens next is your fault." She turned away from me and crossed her arms. "What is going to happen next?" I asked. CR shook his head, "You should have done what she said." Before I could question what he meant by that I felt a sharp pain in my back. I turned my head around to see one of the villagers, though it was different. It's face began to twist and turn until finally it was but a small black creature with creepy yellow eyes. "It must have stabbed me," is what I thought. Though I couldn't feel or see any type of weapon. I turned back around to see CR and NoN looking at me. They knew this would happen if I didn't do what they said. Was it them who made this happen? Was this punishment? Before I could ask myself any further questions they both rushed past me weapons at the ready. The last thing I saw before everything went dark was the village go up in flames. I awoke to find myself back in my apartment, safely in my bed. Had it all been a dream? Was any of it real? I looked to the side of my bed and saw NoN holding a tray with food. She told me, "You really messed up back there. You should have just lit the match." I was still slightly tired, "So it wasn't a dream? Then . . . what was that thing?" I reached for my back trying to feel a scar or something left by the creature. "You won't find anything back there, if that's what you're doing. That creature was a heartless, they show up in bunches sometimes. They pierce through to your soul and try to corrupt your heart. It only works on people with weak hearts, at least with these low level creatures. That's why you're still here. If your heart was weak then you would have became one of those things, and I would've had to kill you." She wore a smile on her face. "Jee, thanks," I replied. "So, that's what we were doing back there?" "Yep, you see we were informed that the village was disheartened by a shortage of water for their crops. The heartless took advantage of this and took them all over. That's why we went there to try and stop them from spreading any further." She sighed, "You just couldn't listen though." "Do you blame me? I mean, what would you have done in my position?" She laughed, "Probably the same thing. Let me ask you something, do you know why this is called God City?" "No, not really." "Well, it's because all of it's inhabitants have reached a level exceeding that of the norm. Thus we have titled ourselves Gods. There is one true goal behind being a God, one objective we all look toward. What it means to be a God is . . . to protect the innocent and the weak. We have powers and we must use them for good. Do you understand?" I recalled that moment just before I gained my powers when Mother had told me I must use them for good, "Yes, I understand." "Good, now I want you to eat up and then get some more rest. We have another objective tomorrow." She placed the tray at the table beside my bed and left. "So, that's what it means to be a God?" I didn't even eat, just fell back to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [MARQUEE]Important Important Important Important Important Important Important[/MARQUEE] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For all of you kids out there I just want you to know that playing with fire is no laughing matter, if you ever see a lighter or matches laying around don't touch them. The best thing for you to do is tell an adult. If you ever see a fire then you should quickly find the nearest adult and alert them. Thank you for reading and remember, never get near a fire if an adult isn't present.
Chapter 5: Prelude to Evil I awoke the next day surprisingly filled with energy. I guess almost being killed has it's up-sides. I tossed out the cold food that had been laying at my bedside since last night. I then continued to make myself a bowl of cereal. After I finished eating I took a shower and changed my clothes, then headed out to find NoN and the others. As I walked out into the hallway I was nearly trampled by a strange character running by. He was yelling something about danger, I had simply thought he was crazy. I headed down to NoN's apartment and knocked on her door. There was no answer. "Hello," I shouted, "anyone home?" Still no answer to be heard so I grabbed the doorknob and twisted it open. Guess it wasn't locked. "Hello! NoN, are you in here?" It felt strange entering her room. I looked around but could not find her. After a while I gave up and decided to leave. I then rushed down the staircase and headed outside the building. I began searching the town for anyone, yet there was no one. I was starting to feel strange, as if the strange character I saw before was actually serious. After a few hours I finally came upon a familiar figure, "CR! Where are the others?" He gave no answer, just simply stood there static as if frozen in place. "CR?" I asked hopefully. Of course there was still no answer, so I decided to abandon that hope for now and I again began searching the town. I came upon Nas, who was also frozen in an attacking position. As if he were trying to defend himself, but from what I do not know. One by one I found the rest, all the same as Nas and CR. They were all either just standing there or in a position of defense against some unknown entity. The only person I could not find was NoN. No matter how hard I looked, she was no where to be found. It was getting dark out and I had no idea what to do. I simply headed back to my apartment to think. I arrived just to my door and again I saw the strange character. He had his head poking slightly out around the corner watching me from down the hall. I pretended not to notice him at first as I walked inside. I closed the door and waited about five seconds before quickly opening it again. The character was right in front of my door and I grabbed him and slung him inside. "What is going on here!" I yelled at the now frightened character. The character replied, "Iccara." "What? What's Iccara?" "M-me . . . my name is Iccara." "Oh," having heard this I let him loose from my grip. He was not the reason behind this whole mess. "So, do you know what is causing this . . . Iccara?" Iccara shook his head, to my disappointment. He then said, "I do however know where you can find her." I quickly looked directly at Iccara, "NoN? You know where I can find NoN?" Iccara nodded, "I can lead you to her if you like." "Yes, of course. Maybe she can tell me what's going on here." Iccara began to walk out of the room and motioned for me to follow. Before opening the door however he carved some strange symbol into it lightly. As he opened the door it became so cold, it was because behind the door was nothing but darkness. "Wh-wh-wh-wh-what is th-th-this?" "She is here, in the darkness. You must find her and . . . please, bring her back." Iccara's eyes were those of a child who had lost its mother. "Is she important to you?" Iccara nodded, "I wouldn't be here without her. I can continue no further, you are on your own from here." Iccara vanished leaving me there alone. I had no choice on the matter, I had to find NoN. I walked through the doorway into the darkness, of course like in all the old movies the door shut behind me. "No going back that way," I laughed trying to reassure myself I would be fine. I walked and walked for what seemed like forever, it was so dark I couldn't even tell what I was walking on. I then remembered that I could make my own light, so I called forth an orb to shine a path for me. Something strange happened as I did though, nothing. The light was shining but the darkness was still there, as if the light had no effect. What kind of place was this? I finally reached another doorway, I stepped through and there was light in here to see. The light was provided by torches hanging on the walls of what appeared to be a cave. I looked around at the odd room I had found myself in, then I heard a voice. "Why did you come for me?" It was NoN sitting on a throne-like chair atop a mound of rocks. "There is something strange going on back in God City. Everyone is frozen and-" "Who sent you here?" "Wh-what?" "Who sent you here? I bet it was Iccara wasn't it!" "W-well yes but what does that have to do with-" "Silence!" She snapped her fingers and figure came around from behind the chair. It was Iccara, "Yes?" "Why have you gone behind my back to bring him here?" NoN was being harsh to Iccara. "Wait what is he doing here?" I was being completely ignored. "Well I thought maybe he could help you out NoN." Iccara looked down. NoN drew her hand back to hit Iccara. I rushed over and stopped her, "Don't lay a hand on him!" She looked at me with eyes that could kill, "You dare touch me?" She took her anger out on me instead, sending me flying back against the wall. "I will tell you this once and only once . . . never touch me!" I picked myself up and again walked over to NoN, "Why are you acting this way? What has happened to you?" She grinned, "He's come back of course." "What, who is . . He?" "Why ask what you already know," she began laughing. I became confused and my mind started spinning. It was like she was laughing from every angle and aspect of the room. That laughter over and over again. It sounded so familiar but I couldn't remember what. "Father?" I asked before everything went black. It was quiet for some time, as I lay in the darkness afraid to move. What was Father doing with NoN, why couldn't I remember. Something was bothering me yet I could not figure out what. After what seemed like a life time of waiting, I heard a strange knocking sound. Then I woke up. I jumped out of bed and went to answer the door. It was NoN standing there. "Come on, we have a lot to do today," she stated as she took my hand and began pulling me away. I had little time to close my door. A strange figure appeared in the room and looked at the door, rubbing his fingers over the symbol carved into it. "So, what will you do now Nights?" the figure asked himself as he faded away.
