Talk about both the Movies and Anime Series. I personally love both, i perfer the anime series though since it's more actiony and i seemed to get more into it. I just like the way the Anime is set up, sure it can be confusing at times, but neither the less it great. What do you think?
Actually the anime that defined anime was Akira 1988. Akira changed the way we look at anime by being less of the stereotypical anime. But Ghost in the Shell defined everything that Akira did not. Akira was all about the action and less about the intelect. Ghost in the Shell made people wounder what could become of them if they continued on their path. Mostly by showing them the ups and downs of the future. Akira was all about the violence and animation. Funny how I ruined my entire point, ok Ghost in the Shell defined anime and its intelect Akira defined the animation, popularity (had to put that somewhere), and whatever else you can think of.....all though I do agree Ghost in the Shell is so much better than Akira. Ghost in the Shell lasted longer.
I've only watched the first Ghost in the Shell movie. However, I had to watch it twice to just understand it. The first time I watched it, I just went like, "...WTF?" Of course, that was before I paid any attention to the story.
There isn't much relation between the movies and TV series, just the characters in it. The series follows the manga to a certain extent though it's more serious then the manga was. But the Movies are totally stand alone, the second movie never appeared in the manga one bit.
Well I was watching it on Adult Swim when it used to be on (A T.V. channel here) and I don't think it was the first episode...guess ill go back to You Tube and watch it.
