No Thanks Get to know you thread

I have been trying to think of a way to improve this site (though it is wonderful enough to not be changed with my idea) and I thought up of a thread about getting to know the other people on kh-vids.net. I know that stuff is covered a lot of the time in user notes, spam zone, introduictions and public profiles but I thought it might be a good idea anyway. Here's a bit on how it might work.

In the suggested thread section, you would start a thread about yourself.

In this thread, you may talk about anything (appropriate, and safe) about yourself to the other members of this site.

Some people will post back, commenting about your thread. This might be a way to make some friends on kh-vids.net.

The only problem is that people might take this as a spam zone kind of thread and post random gibberish and spam the threads.

I know this is a pretty, well....strange idea, I think it might be okay. I would like to hear any feedback, positive or negative.

 

I think that would start way to many flame wars.

 

I'm not so sure, granted we do have the introduction threads and the Question time with threads. I think that if we did have a thread like the one you are proposing it would be basically a spam sub thread, or a haven for members to try to become prem.

I think this would easily turn to pedo 101 and pedo stop. (Not trying to be pararnoid) And I agree with Spitfire, it would start way too many flame wars.

It would work, if there not as many members though.

 

PM's maybe? i mean... thats kinda what they are for... arent they? it WOULD kinda be pointless... the intro section is for that anyway...

 

I like the idea and I don't see how it would turn into a flame war or draw in pedos.. o,o you guise srsly are paranoid.

But I still don't think it would work out. It'd either get spammed to **** or completely neglected, lol. There is no happy medium.

We could just make a single thread in spam for people to write about themselves. I, for one, love talking about myself. P:

 

Lol, sometimes I do, to. To be honest, the idea came when I kept thinking that I wanted to know more about some of the users. I am glad that there are positive, and negative, comments.

 

How about an alternative, like a "post something cool about yourself thread"?

It probably should be a sticky in the Spam threads, otherwise it would be spam happy from premium wannabe's.

I'm leaning towards what Mish said here. It's simply a topic that's doomed to get spammed with, so it would belong to the spamzone - the best result would be to keep it all in a single thread. I like the idea of getting to know more about the members as a person though, as long as they themselves control what is shared.

I don't know about this suggestion. It seems as if the bads outweigh the goods.

 

I don't know about this Idea. Like people have said, It'll probably get spammed. I agree with Mish though, It probably wont start a flame war.
The problem about this Idea Is, most people already know each other. Most members are happy with their friends right now and making this Suggestion happen might make some members feel neglected because they're not part of a group of friends. A lot of people wouldn't be bothered looking at what other members are like anyway. I don't mean to sound awful, but I know I would only take a look at the detailed profiles of the people I'm actually Interested In.
There would be a lot of pointless comments like the 'Post your Picture here' thread, I know Its nice to be told you're pretty, but after hearing It One million hundred, two thousand and fifty two times, It gets a little bland. And what else can you really say? 'Omg you look so ugly' Would be putting someone down. Thats the same If we had a thread to get to know each other, people would probably be getting a different variety of pointless questions.
Look, my point In this Is, If you REALLY want to get to know a member PM them or IM them. Its easier to do that then to look through all the pages of profiles and spam to get the person you actually want to know about. Anyway, Profiles like that don't really make It so you know the member like a full on friend, If you talk to them In PM or IM you can really get to know the person like a true friend.

Don't feel upset though, I think It would be a Great Idea If only KHV were a smaller community.

 

Overall, I think it's a gd idea. Keeping it as a thread makes it all better. And I'm sure flame wars and spamming is bound to come, but...y wait? It's gona happen sooner or later...

If you want to get to know a user better we have new fangled technology that is talking to them. F*cking christ people, we have many ways of doing this: MSN, PM's, Forum Familes, or my favorite, F*CKING POSTING.

Like SJ pointed out and my long post, there are easier ways to get to know someone, Its better then looking at one million pages of Spam and Profiles.
