General Naruto Discussion *spoiler alert*

I put this in the manga section on purpose, because I wanted to talk about the manga, and not shippuden which is way behind in terms of chapters. (Its gone into filler mode again). Also, you can ask questions here, but...well...i'm mostly going to say things from the latest naruto chapter, so if you dont get it...READ IT. XD

I put a spoiler alert up too, because discussing it is always going to bring something else up, lol.

General synopsis of whats going on in Naruto now. Sasuke has joined akatsuki and is currently looking for the 8 tailed bijuu under Madara's command. Naruto, Shikamaru and the rest of their friends are currently solving the code Jiraiya left for them after he died at the hand of Pein...

But seriously, what is the 8 tails, an octopus or a snake? I always thought Orochimaru was part 8 tails...especially during that outburt when he fought Itachi...(where Sasuke turned into that 8 headed snake beast and orochimaru appeared...)

 

Orochi is a mythical japanese creature. Touted to be one of the most fearsome monsters ever, it's thought to be a representation of a river system that would flood and wipe out villages. It's a snake with eight heads, and is not unlike the Greek hydra. The tailed beasts on the other hand are built around folklore regarding animal spirits, not monsters. Kyuubi for example is just a fox spirit though the when named it is often times a monster. However, the tanuki and the cat are just animals that are supposedly in possession of magical powers even in the lesser beings.
