    Seriously, he's right.

If you can get Grand Theft Auto 4 ON EBAY (Where there's scams and overpricing galore) for TWENTY dollars cheaper than your local Gamestop, something's wrong. :S

'course.. if your like me.. and only go to Gamestop to actually buy NEW games... your all set. ;P

Gamestop always rips you off. They're only good for buying new games. Otherwise they usually overprice.

What should be noted, however, is that GameStop doesn't make the prices. The companies do. I've had friends who work in my gamestop around here and they agree entirely that the games are completely overpriced in some cases for used games. If it's 40 bucks to buy a brand new game used, you might as well spend the extra 10-20 dollars for the new one.

Gamestop actually screwed up one of mine games. I bought a disc cleaner from there to fix a scratched game and after I used the disc cleaner, the game GOT WORSE!!! I mean that before it would get to the "Press Start" screen but after using the cleaner, it went black after the "Playstation 2" screen. Though I just bought a game from Gamestop not to long ago.

Wait, the companies (like Square Enix and whatnot) decide what the used price is? o_o

Either way, I thought that it was pretty sad that they had over fifty defective used products in their store, just for handhelds...

And of course you can buy new games fine from there.. they're still factory sealed and such.

Actually I lied when I said the companies decide the prices. The MSRB (I believe?) decides a sale price and then other companies can make leeway.

All I know is that certain places cost waaaaay less than Gamestop. Walmart for example, or Kmart. Even ShopKo.

Yes MSRB decides the retail price.

This is my question, how is Walmart cheaper(I can't complai nabout others seeing as Kmart is out of buisiness here and I've never heard of ShopKo) when they sel leverything for the retail price which is always $60 or if you are lucky $40 when GS sells it for that and lowers it when used?

Only valid complaint I see is not giving you enough for your used games, which is truth, but walmart doesn't do that and neither does any other store (especially with lastgen games). i'm usually just glad I can finally glad I can get rid of them and get some store credit out of the deal

EDIT: BTW, as for the Ebay thing that's the strategy for Ebay... Sell it lower than everyone else is and wait for hte bidding to skyrocket with it.

I never shop at Gamestop anymore after I saw a second-hand copy of MGS 4 just $5 dollars cheaper than a new one. That and the games are just so overpriced. At least with places like Kmart or Harvey Norman, they have a good deal and so on. I personally prefer to do my shopping on Ebay due to the fact that I'm probably less likely to pay for a new game that was previously second-hand. If it is second hand, it doesn't matter since the prices I find are always at least $40 dollars cheaper.

    Let's see...

-They don't tell you that you can't return new games; they act like the "return within 7 days" policy is for every game, then you have to trade in a new game as used
-Used games get maybe 5 dollars if you're lucky
-Many clerks tend to not know what you're talking about
    -Used games are overpriced

I try not to shop at GameStop. I had a Play-N-Trade near me recently that was REALLY good, but it closed down; the other in my area isn't nearly as good.

Wow. Our Wal-mart is actually more expensive than our Gamestop. o_O The guys who work at our Gamestop actually know a lot about the games too, etc. I only go to Gamestop to get some new games every now and then. I do admit that the game prices are over the top but that's expected of a low economy nowadays. =| I mean, my family and I don't buy that many games now (because of next-gen consoles we still can't afford) but hey, it still all works for me.

There's a reason behind the price differance.Your guaranteed a working game in Gamestop and if it doesn't work you can get your money back.On eBay you aren't guaranteed a Working game and if it doesn't work you aren't able to get your money back.

You got to remember gamestop still needs to make money - and it may just be because I live in a small (very small!) city but our gamestop employes actually check the used games to make sure they work - because if they don't they technicly are losing money!
And they actually like where they work - and they LOVE square enix games and they found out everytime i go in there i will most likely get a square enix game - so they started called me 'Square-Enix Girl' and they will pull out the reserve list for the next square enix game xD Its quite funny - but it's probably because I'm about the only girl that goes in there xD
I love my gamestop - and just be happy you don't live in Germany because they're DS games cost roughly $150 !! So no complaining! We've got it a LOT better then they do.

The only gripe I have about Gamestop is their trade-in policy. I brought in 4 games to trade in, they only took 3 of them, claimed one was too old, and I got less than $6 for those three games.

On the other hand, I can typically get a new game there cheaper than my local Wally World, Target, etc., even if I get it the day it comes out. I tend to go there for gaming accessories for my DS, or newer games.

I almost bought a DS lite for $90 from them (provided I trade in my old DS original for a $30 credit), but bought a silver/black Guitar Hero lite on eBay for $55, fresh outta the box.

I guess my view's kinda neutral. The pros match the cons.

They are really not the best choice. I once bought a game. As soon as I got into gameplay it froze. I tried it several times before taking it back. I got a "new" copy. It had the same problem. I traded it in AGAIN! For another "new" copy. It yet again froze as soon as the gameplay started. I went back AGAIN!!!!!!!! When I went back this time the new guy working there helped me and when I told him my story he looked up the game in the computer and told me that the copy I had been sold was the only copy they had, had for a while. I cannot tell you how angry I was. I started a huge rant before getting a refund. I'd suggest EB games or another such store, heck I'd suggest a PAWN SHOP over these guys in most cases.

Very funny, but now I get it. Any way, I traded all my old 200-2004 games (about 20 of them) and got $318.36 for them because I didn't want to do Ebay. If you have a large quantity of games, use GameStop. If you have one game use Ebay. Enough said.

Whoa, didn't know video games were that old. I wonder if I have any games from 200?

Just teasin'. :p I guess you have a point, better in bulk if you want a decent amount of credit. 3 games, like in my case, might have been better sold on eBay.
