No Thanks Friend / Contact History

Would it be possible to add something that indicates how long you've been friends with someone? Kind of like what Facebook has.

For example, X has been friends with Y since:

• Today at [time]
• Yesterday at [time]
• [month]/[date]/[year] at [time]

Thoughts?

 

Is it really important? I mean, does anyone actually value the amount of friends they have on KHV? I've honestly never even looked at my friends list, as it brings about no real benefits between me and a person other than a + next to their name when they're online in the user list. Knowing that i've been friends with fork since 2007 or whatever is not really gonna change anything.

 

You can search your email for friends requests and can see the exact time and day through there. I have all emails I get from KHV auto-logged into a folder where I have access to all of them (I use Gmail).

In the end I have to say it's not necessary, since you can just look it up in your email in a few seconds.

 

Unfortunately, I never keep notification e-mails. :x

 

I think even being able to look at your e-mail, the entire thing is not necessary, no member on the site perhaps barring Amaury has ever said "Oh hey rat is online, i wonder what time and date we became friends at" waste of staff time to look into that.

 

Regardless of any argument of the actual use this would have, I don't believe vBulletin stores that sort of information.

 

That was my thought. I doubt there is a mod to put that in the database either, but even if we could wave a wand and have it coded in I don't really see the point on KHV. I don't even recall the last time I sent a friend request since it has so little baring here. There are a couple of profile settings that are almost never used, and a "+" if you want to track people on user lists. There is really no added bonus to the friend system, thus making dates worthless on many people's lists.

 

Hm... I would think that would be pretty useful if you would want to know when you became friends with other people, but is it actually necessary?

 

Now that we're on XenForo, and it's a lot like Facebook, would this be possible?

 

Not really. Again, we don't have that information. It wasn't even stored on vB to be carried over here.
This is also not a mod on XenForo that we could add for a "here forward" type inclusion.
Even if we did have a mod, this community doesn't change that rapidly and could take a few years to be noteworthy to most members.
