freeware mem cleaning software/program!!!

does anybody know where I can download a freeware mem cleaning software or program that won't f**k up my laptop with any bug/viruses so that I can free up some space in my drive C harddrive cus I have alot of crap that I've downloaded onto my laptop and I only have 23% more space left so if anybody knows about something I can use to clean out my laptop thats free/freeware It would be highly appreciated.

Well... first of all do this:

Start --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Clean Up.

That will empty you recycle bin and clean up your temporary files.

Other then that, you should just go through and uninstall any unnecessary programs or delete any unnecessary files in your C: Drive. Perhaps some old downloads you no longer need or media content that is taking up too much space.

The only software that's out there, to my knowledge, are ones that erase your hard-drive completely. Problem with programs like the one you are looking for is that they often have trouble identifying which files are important to you and which can be deleted.

oh ok well thx roxasvsriku for the help!^^ but maybe it would be less hassle and less work if I bought a pc cleaning program that will clean out what I don't need and leave what I do need cus now that you mention it I actualy tried those methids and for some reason it only cleaned out a portion of files and programs and freed only a tiny portion of memory like say 1 or 2% of memory so........ya I think that what I'm gonna do instead!^^
