Nintendo First Wii U Update is (NOT) 5GB *Updated*

That's completely bogus. 5GB update on day one? That's necessary to play games online?

First, we have ****** ports of PS3 and 360 games. And now this. The Wii U ain't off to a great start here.

 

Wuff! Gonna suck if you lose your connection. And I take it the Wii U doesn't support background downloading. Some folk aren't gonna get to play their Wii U any time soon. Very bad move on Nintendo's part. The least they could've done was break this update into segments.

 

Less tempted to buy a Wii U now, if anything, I'll buy it for the Zelda Majora's Mask port.

The only MM port I've heard of is for the 3DS and that's not until after they release an original Zelda title for it.

 

oh god, that's awfully big. doesn't that suck up pretty much all of the hard drive space for those who have the Basic version (do firmware upgrades take up room?)

 

When they release a new model, aye since it'll have the latest firmware, but they just released the Wii U. It's gonna be a while till Nintendo release a newer model with all its updates. So anyone that buys a Wii U for the next so many months will have to go through that 5GB update.

 

Well, I think it would take a long while to download stuff like Miiverse. It's a whole new thing. Though it is pretty bad.

 

Might be worth it, if anything for the Nintendo games. Hopefully the ports will get better though.

 

They haven't decided if they want to do that yet...

Besides, if you've waited for a long time for this, can't you wait 1-3 more hours? Replay the Wii for the last time if you want, or just go on to KH-Vids, lol.

 

It leaves you with either 3 Gb (cheap model) or 25 Gb (deluxe model).
New Super Mario Bross U only needs 2 Gb, but Wii U games in general take up to 25 Gb.

 

Probably Super Smash Bros or in the later years of the Wii U, but definitely not right now.

It has nothing to do with how skilled the programmers have become, on the X-Box 360 multi CD games were released quite early on (when I said up to 25 Gb per game I really meant up to 25 Gb per disc).

Nintendo is already warning everyone that buying an external hard drive is pretty much unavoidable, whichever model you picked :
