Umm...okay, I'll be honest with you: I have no idea what the pic is...Is it an eye of something? It's very hard to distinguish.
Ok, first of all, how come my photobucket does not keep the original picture size!! Dx Darn... Anywoo . . . It was really had to tell what it was without looking at the cover picture first, and that was triggered by the fact that you did not put the appropriate scales on the face. It took me a while to understand what it was. The portion that you did draw, the eyes and the little horns, it's great, and it's closely accurate, but you've shaded the region where the scales are supposed to take place, and you did it in a messy way, unfortunately, making the drawing seem like a piece of abstract at first glance. It's not a bad thing . . . Though I understand why you might've done that, as drawing each and every scale can be tedious. But all in all, your art is great, but I'd most definitely work on the shading.
