So over the course of the few weeks, I've been indulging in many of the Fire Emblem franchise. I come to you asking if anyone would be interested in a Fire Emblem RP. It would be original of course. The question also stands, would it be simple story and conversation style when in comes to battles, or would it be preferred to have a battle system to be set up with stats, classes, etc. (which I can provide)? Anyway I have a few ideas for story. Anyone have any interest at all?

Looking at previous RPs, I'll speak on my opinion about this situation.

I would LOVE a Fire Emblem RP. It's a great series with very little limelight and overshadowed by other RPGs. However, it's glaringly obvious that FE is avoided due to interpreting the combat mechanics into the RP.

In my opinion, if you were to make a Fire Emblem RP, it should be more story/conversation based. Having all the combat mechanics and all of that is a double-edged sword. If you're really good at it, it can be an amazing experience. However, having flaws in it can lead to a frustrating experience. I joined an RP with all the stats/combat in it once and it took a whole month to fight the 2nd boss. It was frustrating when people took days to respond and/or people dropped during such fights.

I would say having a mix of both, but it's very taxing on the creator (you in this case) to flesh out a story AND keep track of all the stats/levels/ect. on every person. I enjoy Fire Emblem both for its story and battles, but when it comes down to RPs, I would rather focus on story and character development than battles. It's just a major hassle to keep track of everything not to mention frustrating and torn when that person decides to leave the RP with all that work gone in the bin.

You have a point. I could see it taking far too long to get 1 battle done with stats and actual gameplay mechanics being thrown in. However what I can do is still include a level system that is merely symbolic and allow class changes. Say experience depends on posts and word count. That was if you get to a certain point, you can Class Change and be a bit more high and mighty military wise perhaps. Its still in the baby steps of being formed, however, so ideas would be appreciated if you have any.

I would be interested in partaking in a FE RP. I do agree with it being more orientated around story/conversation based rather than stats though. The stats would slow things down by quite a bit I feel.

That's actually a very good idea. Using posts as experience is a great way to keep the leveling system in as well as adding much more detail and plot to the RP as well.
Stat wise, we can use common sense to pinpoint which goes where (Mage high INT, warrior high STR, ect).

Something I also would like to mention is the control over battles. These types of RPs make it hard not to god-mod or power-play. It'll be difficult whether you took over the maximum amount of damage. Maybe for every day of no posting, you take a set amount of damage based on your class and who you are fighting and it's even more punishing for bosses and strong enemies.

I quite like that idea. It gives more reason to post. Like in the games, once your HP hits 0, you're dead forever and there is no chance of you coming back to life. Each level can increase max HP as well by a set amount. FE tends to use the % system for level up, so say certain classes get like an 80% for HP to increase while others could be 120%, allowing for a possible 2 HP. This would also all be done with RNG.

That's a good idea as well.

Hmm...how about buying/selling stuff? Should we have a buying/selling system or should we just have a set weapon and have it upgraded every few battles?
