Nope. Road trip bromance > everything

This will be the greatest mainline Final Fantasy just for the sheer amount of bro it will contain.

Yeah, I have no issue with it, honestly in a situation like this it'd probably just lead to having one out of place female party member to check a list
I'd rather they make a story they want to make (and I hardly see how it's unlikely that a guy would have four other friends who are also guys)

I guess I'm the odd man out. I only have one guy friend that I actually consider to be a friend and the only reason I ever "bro out" with him is that I always find myself overcompensating in treating him like a dude.

Personally, I would have love to have seen at least one playable female character, especially for a main FF title. But, as long as they don't make the boys stereotypes and completely eff up the side female characters, then I'll let it slide.

    >No problem here
    >Assassin's Creed Unity

.... No one is seeing a correlation between this event and that one? No one HERE is seeing that they may have been on a different side then? Maybe because now a game they're looking forward to is under the gun? Arright, cool, peace.

For the record, I have no issue with it. If the writer envisioned his characters as male, changing them for public opinion would be a crime against the art of writing.

My issue with AC Unity is that all the co-op characters are dudes. I doubt co-op characters have any story or even have names (correct me if I'm wrong?), they're just faceless avatars for your friends. That said, the biggest outrage I think comes from the HORRIBLE reason Ubisoft gave when asked about this: "Females are difficult to animate" and "It would double our workload". Stupid reasons, and outright lies. Especially when coming from a AAA developer, when making one of the most successful and financially 'safe' franchises in gaming right now.

Correcting you because wrong. They're story characters, at least claimed to be.

Also, the doubling the workload thing was absolutely true. Google the amount of animations in ACIV. Then say "holy shit." Then realize they're probably doubling that for this game. Then realize they'd have to do all that again to make thinner models and be accurate to a more feminine body and recreate hitboxes on the clothes, environments, etc. It wouldn't just double their workload, the complaint came too late- it'd delay the game, which would increase the budget and probably cost jobs considering how many studios are already on that pile of crap. They used crap excuses, but ya know what, at least they were honest about it in my boo.

dude, the ubisoft animators literally said they were pissed that they said that because it wasn't true
certainly the animations are advanced, and they'd have to create more resources. I doubt it was practical to include all that so close to going gold, and delaying the game just for a minor feature like that wouldn't be a smart idea, despite what some people say
hitboxes are definitely not a major concern though, they already have Aveline, she even uses some of Connor's exact animations, I believe.
As for how the characters work, unless this has changed our I misunderstood, basically everyone plays as Arno, but you have a customizable Assassin which is how you appear to other players

the fact that it didn't occur to ubisoft to add in some women is part of the problem as well

yes I have a problem with ffxv being all bro time because it doesn't hold any interest at all for me. I don't care.

Well to start off there's the quartet of Megans: Work Megan (who I don't actually work with anymore), Con Megan, Other Con Megan, and Cousin Megan. There's also Lila and her little sister, Maya, as well as Carolyn, my best friend from high school with whom I still keep in touch on a regular basis. Among the people who I consider my friends, there is only one guy and even then I'm uncomfortable treating him like a guy, which is why I usually find myself overcompensating[DOUBLEPOST=1411049454][/DOUBLEPOST]
But did occur to them. How else would they have arrived at the (confirmed by the devs to be false) conclusion that the only reason they couldn't add female models was that it would be too hard? They had to consider adding in female characters before they did whatever bullshit analysis that caused them to say, "No, don't let the players be female." Whatever the case, they'll probably use people's disappointment to sell a female PC as DLC. It's the only way for them to atone for their sins while at the same time avoiding the stigma of going back on their word.

Also, it bad that I thought all the Assassins in the first gameplay trailer were women? They were all just so slender.

That doesn't sound like a "problem" so much as a "lack of interest." I mean come on, I've had no interest in Halo since the third game but that doesn't mean I have a problem with the more recent games.

Nope, no problem, since we've pretty much known it'll be a male-centered playable cast for...what, 6 years now?

I had a problem with Assassin's Creed Unity because it's the French Revolution, in which (I think from reading up on some history?) some of the most notable female activists in western history were involved. Anyone feel free to correct me here because I don't remember where I read this. Probably The Escapst?

Well I generally have lost interest in FFXV for starters, all the fanrage and bs on Square's part is just annoying. I was excited for the game when it was first announced but I'm not willing to hold a candle for it for years like some others are, especially after the FFXIII series (though I do hope for Square's sake that they don't repeat mistakes with FFXV). at this point I want FFXV to come out not so I can play it but so I can stop hearing about it. Which sucks but I don't think it's unjustified.

I don't care about the male protags because i'm bored of male characters, in the same way you'd get bored of games that only take place in, say, medieval England or games that only let you use a pistol. Maybe one game does those things better than the other but I'd like to play something that doesn't just feature the same thing I'm used to if only for variation's sake. Not only that but when women are poorly represented in something it interferes with my enjoyment of it.

I'll probably play FFXV when it's been out for a while and has come down in price, or sooner if I hear really good things about it, and I'm open to liking it when I do eventually play it. But I'm not hyped at all.

The only gripe I have about what you're saying in terms of it being comparable to games that only take place in medieval England or games that only let you use a pistol is that there are exponentially more possibilities in both of those areas as opposed to literally only two in regards to gender. Male and female.

That being said, I agree with the first thing you said. Game took too long. I'll be happy if it turns out to be good, but I simply don't care enough anymore to be hyped about it.
