Square-Enix FFXIII Director Wants To Remake Final Fantasy VII

Personally, I would love a remake of FFVII but I think it can wait for other Square Enix games to come out like Versus XIII and FFXIV before they even think about remaking any Final Fantasy from the Playstation era. I also want a remake of FFV and FFVI(maybe for the DS or PSP) but that's a completely different subject.

 

Oh Square Enix, always teasing the audience on a daily basis.
I have a feeling that although they may be working on FFXIII-2/ VS and FFXIV... It looks like FF7's remake may be jumping into the fray not too far behind.

If they are going to confirm it, I'm guessing 2014/15 tops.

I really hope the remake happens. x

I would really like for talk of FFVII to fall off a cliff to be honest, I'm sick of it. I still have my original copy and I still adore it to pieces, it will always be a favourite, but damn, I really wish they would let it go.

They can't make it worse since it's a remake. Most people liked the original. This one is just going to be FFVII with better graphics, better dialouge, voice acting possibly and maybe a few extras. Messing up a remake is just saddening.

Well Zack barely appeared in the original game but they might change that in this game and make him more important. I don't really mind if they change their voices just as long as it fits their character. Also how "NICE" is this letter going to be?

Because of all the preludes and sequels of FF7, the thought of a sequel doen't seem so interesting to me

 

Not a sequel, it's a remake. Big difference.

 

You can already tell that if they remade it they'd add more hints at other FFVII games and media. Like they'll probably add more Zack scenes and then hints towards the events of Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, they might even have Before Crisis references with the Turks or something. I couldn't give a rats ass if they remade it or not.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing a FFVII remake, but i'd rather see a FXIII-2 appear or something completely new. I would suggest a FFIX remake but i couldn't bare the thought of Zidane's voice. T__T

Why would the main cast of the game not be in a remake? Also, it's simply an idea, it won't happen at least for some time.

 

My bad I wrote the wrong thing. I meant Remake. I just lost interest in ff7 because of the sequels/preludes

 

They might as well just remake it. I mean the whole company wants it so why not? They keep saying that they don't know if they will make it but it's painfully obvious it will be remade somewhere down the line and somehow, just somehow, Square Enix will find a way to screw this remake up. I'd much rather just leave FF7 alone anyway, it wasn't that good of a game anyway to be honest.

 

So YOU say. The large fanbase would say otherwise. Square-enix is a business, if they can make money, they'll make it. If a remake won't completely destroy the integrity of the game in the producers' eyes, they won't have a reason not to do it, if they have the time and resources.

FF7 was one of my first PS games (Right after Suikoden II) and one of my first RPGs. It pretty much introduced me to RPGs and Final Fantasy. The graphics were amazing, but when I went back and replayed it last semester, the graphics sucked. They were revolutionary for their time and that's what people remember. Now that they see that the graphics pale in comparison to today's games, they want to see their favorite brought up to par. Especially with games like Tactics being remade. They want things like translations fixed.
I'd like a remake. But I don't want them to waste time on a complete game when they still have other games lined up for us ((FFvsXIII, FFAgitoXIII, BBS in English, KHIII, the other two KH games, FFXIV and others)

 

Whether someone enjoyed the game or not, you can't dispute that it was revolutionary for it's time in terms of story, graphics, and side-quests. Yes, it's been whored out far more than it should have been by Square, but like people have said before; Square is a business. If they make money off of something, they will continue to do that something until they make no more money off of it. The same is being done with FFVII. Advent Children was amazing, as was Crisis Core. Even I thought it should have ended with that. They were overcomplicating the original plot with all those change ups that can't be justified. If they remake it, they'll end up justifying those holes somehow or another.

That being said, I would love nothing more than a remake of this game. I would devote a whole month to whoring myself out to this game until I had done absolutely everything possible. But, I'd prefer to get Versus XIII, Birth By Sleep, and XIV. Mostly BBS and Versus, though. :lolface:

 

Just give me Versus 13, kthx.

I love FFVII, don't get me wrong. But honestly, FFXIII doesn't really interest me much, I just want Versus to come out. I didn't have a PS when FFVII came out, but I don't want them to make a remake if it'll delay the production of any toher games, especially Versus.
