I've never played the game. Usually when I play Final Fantasy games they are either boring, cliche' (and horribly so), random, or downright stupid.

Hey, they sometimes have lovely characters (the only one's I've seen are the guy above and Zorn/Thorn)...still, characters of love nonetheless.
