I really want a Final Fantasy game, because it always looks so cool and good and the stories seem so awesome.
I once owned (oh wait I still do) Final Fantasy X-I or something, with the girls and stuff.
I didn't like it at all, simply because I hate the turn-based gameplay.
After that FF I never bought one again (don't hate me!) but I still have the eager to buy one.
My first question is, are there any FF games (except Crisis Core, I am planning to buy it I think) without the turn-based gameplay?
Second is, tell me the one you like the most, and state why.
I would like info about these games, because I feel I have missed something in the gamefranchise because I did not own a FF before.
Maybe I'll change my mind about them even if they have turn-based gameplay (although I highly doubt I will buy such a game)

Oh and if this is already posted I do apologize, for I did not know or found it. And if this does not belong here I apologize yet again, and I will ask a moderator to transfer it to the right forum. Thank you.

Square-Enix section is a north, thank you.

In any case, to be honest, the non-turn based FFs aren't as good as the original ones. (Although Crisis Core is a huge exception)

There's Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus. It's more of a shooter, really.

If you REALLY hate turn-based gameplay that much, but want to try a Final Fantasy, go with Final Fantasy XII. It's still turn based, but it's a very fun kind of it. The gameplay is just great. I'm badly biased towards the story though. ._.

Otherwise, if you want to give it more of a try (Final Fantasy X-2 is hardly a good choice for a starter FF >_>)go with anything FFVI--->FFX. All of them are great (No matter what people say).

I mostly play Final Fantasy games due to their captivating stories, memorable characters and sound-tracks. Turn-based gameplay is a plus, even if it might get boring sometimes.
Which brings me to my answer to your second question, Final Fantasy VI is my favorite. Story, characters and all that. But the thing is, it also improved the turn-based gameplay of it's predecessors.

Thank you for you opinions and I'll check out every FF you said on the internet, and I see now there is a Square-Enix section right above this one lol. I don't know how to move it myself though. Is that even possible? If so, please share, if not, can one of the staff move this for me please =3

Yeah, only staff members can do this (Sadly for us >_>).
But an admin/mod is bound to see it eventually. I'll send a report just to be sure though~

Uhm. Dissidia is great too. The story is simple but it doesn't suck.
You could actually go and buy FF and FF2 for the PSP even though they're turn-based, they weren't boring because of it.

Also, if you have an SNES you might want to buy Secret of Mana. It's technically a spin-off series of Final Fantasy except with more AWESOME(gameplay-wise XD).

I'd probably recommend 7 and 8, maybe 12. The regular 10, the one that you didn't get, is also good and doesn't have the ATB system, didn't like the one you've got either.

My favorite is 7, but that's partly because that was my first FF and I grew up playing it, started playing it the year it came out(probly age 7) and finished a few years ago(like 14 I think). But it is still a really good game.

They all have awesome story lines and a lot of extra stuff to do on the side, especially 12 so I'd recommend that one if you like goofing off.

I moved the thread for you.

Anywho, If your going to play a Final Fantasy, I recommend either IX (my personal favorite), VII (since you can get it off the PSN), I & II (since they're on PSP) and I think FFIII & IV are on DS. I forget if V and VI have been remade. The stories, gameplay and graphics are/where good for its time. They're still the ATB turn based system in those though (which is and still is fucking decent no matter what anyone says) but if your not into something like that you should probably just get FFXII, it's got a strange ATB system that can be fun and annoying at the same time.

I liked FF12 because it wasn't as turn based as the other ones. I don't know why people don't like the story. It's certainly better than X-2 *shudders*

FFI & II - meh not really my style.
FFIII - Looks nice, but my DS is failing on me some time now. And I still don't like the turn-based thing lol.
FFIV - I like III more for some reason.
FFV - It looks like a gameboy game lol (it probably is) I'm not searching for that.
FFVI -Same as V, not appealing to me.
FFVII - The story seems awesome and of course I love Cloud, but the graphics are just too lame. I'm skipping this one.
FFVIII - This one looks okay, it is definitly better graphic wise, but the turn based is still a problem.
FFIX - It looks cool, it has Vivi in it (that's a character I actually know, thanks to KH lol) but I don't think I'm able to play it since I don't have a PS1.
FFX - Looks great, love the characters and alot of them return in KH. I like this one alot, considering of buying it, although TURN-BASED JUST SUCKS. lol
FFXII - It looks just fine, and it's probably the most recommended as I read you guys replies. It has something different indeed, and is not the average turn-based. I like it. I think I'll give it a try.
Crisis Core - I just decided I'm buying that one too. It actually looks the coolest of them all lol.
FFXIII - I can't wait for it to be released, it looks fantastic.

Thanks for the help guys =)

It's on PS2? I have a PS2 yes, but are you sure it was released in Europe as well? I never saw it. But even IF I find it, is it worth buying it? (don't wanna waste my oh so precious money)

Yeah, I saw some gameplay and it looked very nice.
Not much of a shooter fan unless it's real hardcore shooting, though. I play Gears of War alot at a friends house (I don't own a next-gen console yet. I don't know why, but something is holding me back from buying one. Maybe I'm just waiting untill I see a couple of games that really appeal to me. Although Prototype, Assasin's Creed, Fable etc. looks awesome.)
This looks rather calm, which is kinda obvious because it's Vince we're talking about. If it's not that expensive I might consider it.
lol I am really gonna spend all my money on these games if this continues.

FFXII is an amazing game but it is also a timesink if you plan on going all out to get things like ultimate equipment and optional bosses.

Chest Farming takes a LONG time.

You do know that you can play PS1 games on a PS2 right?
Anyway, in my opinion, FFIX was a good game, nice character design, good story and pretty decent graphics considering the time (and console) that it was made. As a Final Fantasy fanatic, I recommend FFIX and FFXII. I thought FFXII was a good game and the battle system was a bit refreshing and you could change the people in your party at any time you wanted too (unless they were being targeted by a monster of course. XD).

Oh yeah, lol. I totally forgot about that. Anyway, I think I will buy FFXII.
